Burned pot?

I had a 'mishap' with the stove tonight and didn't stir the Orzo enough and it stuck to the bottom of a pot...preally badly....like pretty black now that I have all the Orzo off...

Any tricks?

I thought I read baking soda and water simmering in the pot but so far it's not doing too much!

YES!!! I have a 'cooking disorder' and learned a great trick from a diner waitress once.....fill the pot with hot salty water (I mean ALOT of salt---like from the Morton's canister--not from the table shaker) and let it sit for several hours. It will scrape right off!!!

I've soaked semi burned pots with boiling water and automatic dish detergent. It helped to loosen the stuff off the bottom.

Dawn makes a product called Power Dissolver

You just spray it on, let it sit 30 minutes and the stuff wipes off! It's really awesome

Biological washing powder mixed with water and then boiled up in the pan..
apparently it works!

I second liquid automatic dishwasher soap and some elbow grease. Also, never cook Orzo, unless you can stir it almost constantly. I have probably ruined more then I've eaten.

If it is stainless stell--you can dry using "barkeepers friend". I've used it sometimes and what elbow grease coudln't do with other products--it could with this. It is sold in a gold can with blue labeling. We have it in publix--I've seen it in some walmarts, but not all of them. Sold near comet and other cleansers--sometimes near the dishwashing stuff too.

I think I also read boiling vinegar does something.

Put 1/2 cup of baking soda in the pan and will it 1/2 full with water. Set the pan on the stove and let boil until the burnt particles float to the top.
