Well, I was trying my darndest to wheedle a 4 day trip to WDW in November, but it's just not gonna happen. DS has had a pretty rough transition into 2nd grade, and we really wanted to do something special, as a family. (He's doing MUCH better now, that he is settled in)

So, I get an email today from Wyndham by Request, with some pretty amazing deals at various Wyndham properties. One of which is in Burlinton, VT. We can drive up, so that's no problem, and the hotel has an indoor pool, (keeping DS very happy). We can also fill a day with the factory tours of VT Teddy Bear, and of course Ben and Jerry's.

Now, here's the rub...we would be doing this in November, and we are born and bred New Englanders, so the cold is to be expected.

Can anyone offer up any more, "must sees, or must dos"? We will in all likelihood miss ALL the foliage, so that probably won't work.

Thanks!!!!

Stowe is gorgeous, if you can do a daytrip there. There's always the VonTrapp inn.
Smuggler's notch is cool, and of course there's Ben & Jerry's.
We did the Alpine Slide when we were there last - the kids will love it if it's not shut down for the winter all ready.

Burlington is beautiful!

Things to do:

- Explore the shores of Lake Champlain
- Shop on Church Street- a brick, no cars street of shops and restaurants
- Check out www.vermontvacation.com for suggestions
- Echo at the Leahy Center for Lake Champlain- long name but it is a lake aquarium and science center located down on the waterfront in Burlington
- Take a drive through the Champlain Islands

Another option is to hit Montreal for the day- just an hour or so north of Burlington. There is the Biosphere that would be a good stop for a 2nd grader.

Hope this helps! Happy Planning!! Have a fun weekend!

My parents used to take us to Burlington when we were kids and we always had a great time! I don't remember what we did, but we just loved staying in a hotel. I was easy to please back then :D.

I hope you have fun! I know grade 2 can be rough.

Are you planning on hitting just the original gas-station B+J's place in Burlington, or are you going to go to the factory and take the tour? The tour is awesome, so I highly recommend that! My sis, DH and I went a few years ago. One thing to note is that they do not make ice cream on Sunday, so plan accordingly if you want to see that in progress (at least they didn't make ice cream on Sundays when we went). Also, leave some time to take pictures with the wooden cutout things outside, and of course leave some time to browse the gift shop for ice-cream souveniers, LOL!

Ooooh these are good ideas, thanks everyone.

chrissyk--OF COURSE we are going to do the full blown tour. As a self proclaimed B&J's addict, it is a MUST DO.

Thanks for the ideas, now to convince the homebody hubby.
