Im going to pick up the girls' bunkbeds today.

I desperately need the space in their room and between this and getting 2 new taller but skinnier dressers ( the one they have now is a mammoth, it takes up almost one whole wall) we ought to be able to really free up some space in there.

The ones I found are nice, they are solid Pine with the boards all the way around the top bunk with a hole for a child to get in. I figure thats the safest way.

Im just so excited to get the space in there!!

Do your kids have bunkbeds?

I know the pita part will be making the top bunk but at this point being able to GET to the bed will a plus LOL.

John and Danny have bunks. They both sleep together in the bottom bunk so I don't have a problem with making the top.

LOL Beccy, that is probably how Kaylee and Karissa will be too :)

Two peas in a pod those too.

We just got DS a bunk/loft bed, but he's the only one in his room, so for now, he rotates between the top and bottom bed. Yes, it's a PITA to make the top bed, but we love the bed nonetheless. DS1 keeps talking about DS2 (who's 9 months old) sleeping in the bottom bed -- but we keep reminding him that it'll be a while until he's able to sleep anywhere but his crib. :goodvibes :goodvibes

my girls have bunk beds too....their room is pretty small (actually it is the biggest bedroom in the house, but we have a cape so the room has some pretty funky angles so it is hard to place furniture) When my youngest was ready to get out of her crib, I knew we had to get something other than 2 twin size beds. I debated about getting a trundle bed for them instead of the bunks, but I figured it would be better to get the bunks that way if they ever have their own rooms, I can just separte the bunks and not have to buy another bed then. The top bunk is a pain in the butt to change, but it's worth it to free up soem floor space!

my sister and i did it was crazy
we used them like a jungle gym and she was always pshing me off the top bunk
i want to get them for my boys when ds almost 2 is older but i think they will hurt each other so i am not
they were fun though and the newer ones seem much cooler than when i was a kid

My boys had bunk beds once. They are now two separate beds because DS 3 fell off and got a concussion and we spent hours in the ER.

I grew up with bunkbeds. My sister & I got them when we were 5 & 7 and never slept anywhere else until we went to college. :yay: We loved those beds.

Each of my three kids have had a set of bunkbeds. Nobody ever fell out. DS19 still prefers his, though DD12 decided she wanted something more feminine. We use the extra bed in DS10's room for company but since he can't sleep on top and his 72yo Granny sure isn't sleeping on top :scared1: we got rid of that bed and have opted for a daybed.

My boys have bunk beds. I always find all 3 of them in the bottom bunk.

DD5 and DD3 have bunk beds. They usually play with their barbies on the top bunk. But DD3 does not like ANYONE on her bottom bunk. DH has to make the top one, I can't reach and the ladder is off to the side so there's just no way!

well Im happy :)

I went to buy them and my friend that I was with said " Oh wait! I have a coupon!"

So I got $40 off! WOHOOO LOL

Theyre still sitting in my car because I cant move them out by myself but we will bring them in and set them up soon.

The girls are so excited!!!

yeah for your savings! :) :thumbsup2

we went this weekend to look at bunkbeds for ds. dh wants the ones that are full on bottom and twin on top, but seems to me like that would REALLY be a pain to buy 2 sizes bedspreads/sheets/etc....not too mention, we will probably be potty training in the bottom bunk bed :confused3

We have a set from when my dd's shared a room and my 9yo has them both now, bunked in her room. She loves them and sleeps in the top and uses the bottom as a sofa/clubhouse.

We set and still keep firm rules about how they are to be used and who is allowed on the top. When friends are over I usually take the ladder off and lay it on the top bunk. I know I am a spoil sport!@!

A tip for easy bed making are the nice bunk bed comforter and sheet sets from Lands End. The comfortor is made just for a bunk bed, I think it makes things much easier. It is fitted at the bottom and a bit shorter on the sides. I also love the sheets as the top sheet is fitted on the bottom as well.
