Bunk Bed vs Crib at WL

I'm working out the details of a 2011 trip to WDW. We want to stay at WL and I was worried about YDD sleeping in a pack-n-play. They don't seem like they'd be very comfy to sleep in all night long. Then I thought about booking a room with bunk beds, having ODD sleep in the top bunk and YDD in the bottom bunk with bed rails. A real mattress would be more comfortable than the PnP, but she could fall out and get hurt, too. YDD will be about 18 mos at the time of the trip. Has anyone done this? Did it work out or did you end up with the PnP anyway? Thanks in advance for your feedback!

My daughter will be 19 months when we go to Disney this summer. I plan on having her sleep in a pack n play. Here is the reasoning...I know it might not be the most comfortable thing, but she is used to sleeping in a pack n play everyday at our sitters. She also uses the pack n play all the time at my mom's house. She is more comfortable in the confines of her crib, then a bed. So we have decided that even though there will be an extra bed for her on vacation, (We are staying in the villas at WL this year with my mom) tht she would be more comfortable overall in a more soothing environment. I think it all depends on your little one and how they are in new environments, sleeping conditions. If they can sleep anywhere, then I would say get a bed rail and go for the bigger bed. She might think it's cool to be in a big girl bed. If she usually sleeps in a crib and you think it might be too much of a hange/break in routine then I say, go with the pack n play.

I would recommend renting a crib. We just got back with our 20 month old, and rented a Crib from A Baby's Best Friend (abbf.com) and it was awesome! Real crib, he went to bed no problem, slept great! We went in Sept when DS was 13 months old and he slept in the pack and play and slept terribly. You need a good night sleep at Disney! How old is your daughter, are you comfortable with her on the top bunk? Would you be worried your baby would hit their head on the top bunk from the bottom bunk? Honestly, it was $80/week and it was great!

My daughter was in a regular full size bed with bedrails by the age of 20 mos. She was used to sleeping in a non-confided space since she was a year old at the sitters/daycare. I think it depends on your child. If they are used to not sleeping in a crib then they will most likely be fine. If they are not used to it, then I second the idea of renting a crib from ABBF. My daughter slept in a crib from ABBF the first time she went at 11 mos old, every trip after that has either been in a blow up toddler bed or a pull-out (we stay DVC).

I forgot about ABBF, thanks for mentioning that! YDD currently sleeps in a crib, but she's only 9 mos. By the time we travel she'll be at least 18 mos, possibly older depending on when we can go, so I'm just trying to keep my options open. Did the ABBF crib take up a lot of space in the room? We want to stay at Wilderness Lodge, so we'll have a bit more space than when we traveled last time (stayed at CSR) but I don't know how cramped we'll be with the two beds and a crib. ODD is 6 and would love to sleep in the bunk beds, so that's why I considered them in the first place and wondered about putting YDD on the bottom bunk with a bedrail.

I 2nd renting a crib from abbf. They were amazing and we will definitely rent from them again. I think we'll rent toddler beds this time, but the crib worked great!
