Ok, I know some of you out there play Bunco! My dh is hosting a poker tonight, and at the last minute I decided the ladies will play Bunco. So I got the game - any tips, advice? What sort of prizes am I supposed to buy? Someone told me that everyone is supposed to bring an item in the $5-8 dollar range - what is this for? Can you play with odd numbers of people??? Tell me how YOU Bunco!!

It's been several years since I played, but we each brought $5 to play and a dessert/snack. We had 12 people total.

The hostess used the money to purchase gifts that were $30, $20, and $10. The high gift was given to the person with the highest overall score. The middle gift went to the person with the most buncos. The low gift went to the person with the lowest score.

You can play with out an even number someone will have a ghost as a partner. We play with the same partner for 2 rolls and then switch to a different Partner. (for example you will play with the numbers 1 and 2 together and then switch for 3 and 4) So then the one with the ghost changes.

We also played Bunco with the same rules as Rafiki. The hostess sets up 3 card tables that each hold 4 chairs. Put a small candy dish on each table along with a pad and pen to keep score at each table.
Everyone brings $5 dollars to play. The hostess gets this money in exchange for the gifts that she has bought. (One valued at $30, one at $20 and 1 at $10-gift cards work great for this) We also have a ****y prize that the person with the lowest score gets.

You can also play LCD before hand if you wish. Each woman bring 3 quarters and the special LCD dice are thrown (read the rules included with the dice)
LCD dice can be bought wherever games are sold)

The hostess for bunco also makes little finger foods for snacks. I make brownies,Fridays Potatoes skins,Bagel Bites, cookies, bite size eclairs-just go to Costco and buy everything there! :)

We play Bunco once a month. Lots of fun! :sunny:

I love Bunco can I come play.
We also set up 3 tables of 4. Each person puts in 10 dollars. The person with the most wins, gets 110, the person with the most losses gets her money back. The hostess is usually responsible for the snacks, although other people do bring wine, cookies. Have fun

We play where everyone on puts in $5. We play with 12 people and at the end of 3 rounds we have something to eat, prepared by the hostess. We give cash prizes $20 for most wins, $15 for most losses, $10 for most Buncos, $5 for last bunco, $5 for highest single roll total and then everyone that didn't win puts their name in a hat and that person gets $5.

I wanna play tooooooooo !!!!!!! I haven't played in sooo long... I thought it was bOnco :confused3 anywho...

We also paid $5 to play...

You do need even number of players though.. 4 players per table and 3 tables full...

we had several gifts..

****ie prize
most boncos
2nd most boncos
most wins
2nd wins

We play with 12 ladies, monthly - $11 to play. Payouts are $35 for most Bunco's, $25 for most wins, $20 most baby buncos (all of a number other than the # you are rolling for in the round), $10 for most losses. The balance goes into the end of year pot - in the same categories. $1 per person per month goes to the perfect attendance prize.

I got our basic rules from www.buncorules.com

We take turns having it at our houses - with the hostess providing a meal of her choice.

In my Bunco group, we don't bring prizes. Only the host has to shop for a prize & it goes to whomever is holding the Bunco ball at the end of the last game. We each chip in $10.00 for payouts. I can't remember how it's divided.

We play with 12 people. The hostess prepares all kinds of appetizer type food & we usually talk among ourselves & eat for 1-2 hours before we actually begin playing.
