Bumps on neck

When traveling in the winter, I often get what's called polymorphous light eruption. It's not sun poisoning and its not a heat rash, and its not stopped by sunscreen. It's essentially a rash that breaks out on skin that hasn't been exposed to significant sunlight in a while. I get it on my shoulders and my chest if my shirt is not covering it, but I assume it could appear on the neck too. My hair is usually covering my neck. It goes away after a few days and cortisone cream, and can be itchy until it goes away.

That could be what it is. We are from the Midwest so haven’t been outside much. We got back Sunday and I still have little bumps/scabs on my neck. Saying scabs makes it sound gross but Idk what else to call them. They don’t get red or anything, just little bumps on the skin. They usually don’t itch, though.

Yep that is the rash I get in FL and CA. It is usually on the palm side of my wrists and my ankles

I think next time we will take our own pillow cases and if we still get bumps we can narrow it down even more. I'm thinking it may be the PLE, but I don't know for sure. It isn't such a big deal that it ruins our vacation. We just think it's weird that it's happened both year in a row and DH and I happen to both get it on our necks. He told me he got them on the backs of his ears, too. I have hair there so I didn't get any bumps on my ears.

Good idea. I used to call it my California rash because I got it every time I visited my brother. I initially thought it was their laundry detergent but only got it on my inner ankles and wrists. Also they use hypoallergenic stuff. Never figured it out until we started going to Florida and I got it there too. Never got a sunburn in those areas or really even much of a tan. It seemed to be where my skin is more sensitive yet also exposed to sun. Finally figured it out after all those years. Since I live in Ohio I don’t get it here even when at an amusement park for the day

Good idea. I used to call it my California rash because I got it every time I visited my brother. I initially thought it was their laundry detergent but only got it on my inner ankles and wrists. Also they use hypoallergenic stuff. Never figured it out until we started going to Florida and I got it there too. Never got a sunburn in those areas or really even much of a tan. It seemed to be where my skin is more sensitive yet also exposed to sun. Finally figured it out after all those years. Since I live in Ohio I don’t get it here even when at an amusement park for the day

I have this problem with ANY sunscreen, even the ones that are barrier based sunscreens but I have extremely sensitive skin and have to use facial products designed for very sensitive skin.

We haven't had a whole lot of sun in Iowa for a bit...and the weather's been so flukey it's been hard to get outside.

We got home Sunday from Disney to see all of the snow melted and then it snowed Monday

I’m sorry but I’ve mentioned many times that it’s not the sunscreen. I use the same sun screen at home in the summer and I go to the pool daily so I’m constantly putting on sunscreen.

At least next weekend is supposed to be nice. Then it’ll snow the next day lol
