Bummer - I think a friend just got booted from Facebook

I'm feeling very bummed.....I logged in a few hours ago and the profile of a friend is completely gone. All the comments he made about my status (as well as others) are gone. :guilty:

I'm wondering if he got the boot. Although some of his status updates were a little ummmm...naughty (bad words sometimes), they were often hilarious and clever.

Have any of you ever had a friend get the boot?

can friend sign on again and promise to behave? or isp and such banned? Sorry about friend.

I never heard of anyone getting the boot. I have heard of people deleting their accounts though.

Me too, I've never heard of getting the boot either. I think you'd probably have to have some pretty rough stuff on there for that to happen and that's not the feeling I'm getting from the OP.
Much more likely that your friend has deleted their account.

I have a friend who got booted. She had the name "lipstick" as her middle name (its a nickname) and they cut her off for that. Funny thing is that "Lipstick' is a 50 year old grandma who doesn't drink, cuss, or smoke. She is as straight lace as they come.

She had to create another email account to create another FB account.

so yes, people do get kicked off FB

Actually, I just got booted off a few hours ago. I had to re-create an account.

It wouldn't let me log in because it said that my account was "disabled." It wouldn't show me the reason to why it got disabled, though.

A week ago I got a warning/ban because I was somehow abusing the wall posts feature. Uhm, I was just using it..I don't see how I could misuse it. I wasn't doing anything bad, just commenting on it with a few friends. :confused3

Maybe it's a glitch or something. A couple of weeks ago one of my aunt's postins on my wall disappeared for a day. The next day everything was ok. My aunt hadn't been checking her account those days and she doesn't know what happened.

My nieces got kicked off. They were both younger than the "required" age (is it 12 or 13?), and they set up their pages without parental permission. I found them and was shocked to see that they had "strangers" for friends (at least 2 were adult males). I contacted their parents, who did nothing. I became their friend, and continued to watch their pages. When the 9-year old started posting to her "boyfriend" about her love for him, how "hot" he was, etc....I decided I'd had enough. And I reported them to FB for being underage, and their pages were gone within a couple of days.

As far as your friend goes..........is it possible that he's "un-friended" you? Or blocked you for some reason?

My cousins account got hijacked. So Facebook deleted it and she was able to redue an account.Had to start from the beginning again.
She noticed her name disappearing adn being made fun of. Then things she didn't post on her wall. Stuff being said that we all know she would never say was post it.
So maybe this happened to him.

The same thing just happened to me--I can't log onto FB at all! :confused3

I'm hoping it's a glitch and that it'll be fixed soon. I don't want to lose all of the stuff on my account.

I might have crops to harvest tonight, so I hope this is fixed soon. :)

Is anyone else having a hard time signing on today??

That seems like a silly reason to kick someone off? Fairly harmless nickname compared to some I have seen.

I've had no issues logging on last night or this morning.

FB is pretty liberal. I have a person who used to work with me....he sent me a friedn request and I confirmed him.

His statud updates are raunchy, the say the least. Just reading the words make me take in a breath. Bad, bad language and inuendos. I am ready to delete him as a friend. I don't need that stuff. If FB does not censor him...then most everyone is safe.

I have another co-worker who sent me a friend request last night. I confirmed her, and when I saw her page..her profile picture is one of her flipping the camera the bird. Nice. That's what I want to see everyday..someone flipping me off. (I know it's not me personally, but if I'm looking at the picture..she may as well be flipping me off)

Has anyone every typed something ion the chat, and gotten a message "you're not allowed to do that" It happens all the time and I just laugh, because I am posting a NORMAL conversation.

I posted this..."I had to lick it off" And it was filtered. I typed it again, and it went through. So maybe the word lick is filtered, but it would be everytime you typed it..not when it feels like it. Weird.

I think the required age is 14. You did the right thing by reporting your nieces. I remember many people were mad when FB started letting high school kids join because they didn't FB to have a lot of problems MySpace has with underage kids.

There have been some recent articles on how FB has deleting accounts that have odd or uncommon names because FB is trying to get rid of fake profiles.

I know. It's so weird. I tried logging in today and it said it's still disabled.

Nope. I've gotten that stupid "Facebook chat cannot connect at this time" or "Sending...." a lot but never has it said that I can't say something.

I'm really glad you did this...it is so crazy when I see these little girls on facebook with crazy photos and writing all sorts of horrible things--they don't realize how much trouble they can get into!

myspace it seems doesn't care about underage kids. I tried for a long time with "we have no proof the girl is underage". And she was able to keep her account. I reported her countless times, I never gave up.
