Bummed This Morning

I went to make our reservations early this morning. Our reservation starts on December 23 for 10 nights, but because we change rooms during our trip, we are not able to make 180+10 today. We can only book the first part of the reservation and then will have to do it all over again for the 2nd part (which includes New Year's). I even called and told her we weren't leaving just switching rooms at the same resort. It didn't matter. No reservations for us today. I was very disappointed. I thought since we were there and all the reservations are in the My Disney system, we could make them all today at my 180 day mark.

Nope, the 180 +10 is for your reservation. Since you have 2 reservations, they are blind to each other for ADR booking

Apparently in the past if you called a CM could do it for you. That loophole has been closed

Sorry!

I'm not sure I understand why you couldn't make reservations for at least the first part of your trip?

In the past, when you had 2 consecutive reservations you could call and get all of your dining at once at the 180 day mark, but from what I've been reading, that's no longer allowed. You now have to wait until the 180 mark on the second reservation to be able to book for that time frame. With that said, I hope you were able to get what you wanted for the first part of your trip.

And it is super icky that the loophole closed. I was able to use it in the past. It boggles my mind that the system has to have them as separate reservations. If there is no break (I understand not allowing a reservation- cruise or offsite- reservation) then you should get 180+10. I just won't do a split stay over the holidays because of this and I love split stays.

My parents are coming with us for the first part of the trip. The first day of their stay was yesterday for the 180 day mark. I made those reservations for the party of 6, but have to wait until June 30 for the remaining part. (And no, I didn't get everything I wanted.) I think it is a real disappointment when we are not even changing resorts, just room types in the middle of the stay, and we can't make 180+10. I knew I had done it in the past, and would have reconsidered changing room types had I known they changed it. To me it isn't a loophole. It isn't like I am trying to go around anything. I am staying at a Disney resort for 10 days in a row, but can't book them together. It seems with all this technology that the system would be able to link everything together. I mean, they can track where I sit, but can't link my reservation. Just boggles my mind.

I'm sorry you're bummed. I was bummed when I found this out, too, and it was instrumental in my decision not to do a split stay next year. (For the record, Disney if you're listening, my second resort would have been way more $)

I know what you mean. We are moving from standard to concierge at AKL. Well the good part is we get concierge so I wasn't planning on eating as many TS during this portion of the stay. The only day I was worried about was New Year's Eve.
