We are planning a trip Thanksgiving week 2016 so that my daughter can miss the least amount of school. (She'll only miss 1.5 days). She really wanted to do MVMCP but I see they typically don't hold it that week. I'm bummed!
Yes were a little bummed about that too. We are heading down this year for our first Thanksgiving trip so the kids do not miss too much school and wanted to do all the holiday events. But when you think about it it does make sense with the crowd levels. Closing the MK at 7 PM that week would just be too much. Instead we are going to do the MK the night it is open until 2 AM. The kids are now older (10 and 13) and they think being in the parks late is a lot of fun so hopefully that will make up for it. You can't do that during party season.

It is not the parade but Santa used to meet at DTD (or I guess we call it Disney Springs now ). We did that when the kids were little and they loved it. Plus it gave them a chance to check out the giant Disney store and the toy store too.
Well, they typically have a MVMCP on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Maybe you could arrange that the Full day of school being missed is at the end of the weekend and not the beginning. Or miss 2.5 days and head out on Monday.

If she lived in SW PA, the Monday after Thanksgiving is off school so everyone can go hunt deer! We did a Thanksgiving weekend trip one year and went to the Sunday night party. Actually, we flew down on Friday after Thanksgiving and went home Wednesday, lower crowds than Thanksgiving week, and they missed 2 days of school.
