Heading down to OKW next week. would like to minimize walk distances to pool / bus and such. I've seen a report somewhere which told you these building to be close to bus service, these building to be away from noisey pool and such. Can anyone provide a link to it. Can't find it now.

Or just info in general if you don't have the link.

There are 5 bus stops and 4 pools at OKW. Being an easy distance to any of them is not difficult. There are a couple of buildings that tend to get a little bit of road noise if you happen to be staying in a studio. If you aren't in a studio, you will be in the center of buildings, and that is usually not a problem. I'll post a map that has the bus stops and pools marked.

Found it but would appreciate anyone else's take on things.

For a room close to the main pool, restaurant and main bus stop, request Buildings 11, 12, 13 or 14. For rooms away from the check-in hustle and bustle but close to a bus stop, ask for Buildings 19, 20, 23, 26, 33, 44, 48, 52, or 53. Rooms closest to the quiet pools will be found in Buildings 19, 20, 41, 42, 55 or 56.

As you can see, it is pretty easy to be near a pool and a bus stop. If you are in a studio, I would NOT want to be in building 29 just because you might end up in that unit right on the end by the road. Building 56 has a couple of studio units that are near the road where the buses must brake, and you know how squeeky Disney bus brakes are!

In reality, it's a big resorts where MOST of the rooms are going to be wonderful. Our favorite areas are South Point (especially buildings 45, 46, and 55), Hospitality House booking catagory is often wanted by many, but can be overrated since it will not have the extra door to the bathroom. We actually really like buildings 15, 16, and 18 too. Great views, close to both the Miller's Road pool and HH pool, and a bus stop.

Unfortunately, you can NOT request buildings 11, 12, 13, 14, 23, or 26. THose are all in the HH booking catagory and must be specifically booked.

I have never stayed at OKW and we are planning to in October. What is the HH category? Is it just more points than non-HH due to good location?

We are also not planning on renting a car. From the OKW map, it looks like a a huge resort. I'm a little worried that we're going to have a very long walk to get to the main area and to bus stops. Are we going to be at a huge disadvantage by not having a car?

thanks!

No, it is not more points, and no, it is not necessarily a "better location" than any other at OKW. It's just that some people seem to think they MUST be near the check in location or the main pool, or the bar, or the restaurant. Frankly, I think people who do that are severely limiting themselves from some of the true allure of OKW. Some of the most magical areas of the resort are nowhere near HH! On top of that, ANY place at OKW is a quick bus ride away from the HH area or in many cases a quick walk. There are really only a couple of buildings that would be a significant walk to HH, and there are 5 bus stops throughout the resort. ALL buses stop at HH before exiting the resort, so you are never farther from HH than the nearest bus stop.

Hello OKW experts!

Heading down first week in August to a 1 bedroom. Can not wait. Have done studio there before, but I can see this really can not compare! They seem huge! We have also stayed at a 1 bedroom at SSR, and this seems even bigger and better planned then that...

Anyway, my question. Where are the BBQ grills? Are there many?

We grilled at SSR right outside our room basically - was that luck, or are there many BBQs all over at DVC resorts?

We are planning a R&R trip, with probably one park day. We let our APs run out last week ( managed to get 3 trips in on that one!) but can't keep away from the MK for at least one day.

So we plan to use the resort and our 1 bedroom to create our own magic. DH wants to bbq a few nights, and I would request a room close to them if I have to.

I'm also huge into views, so a recomendation would be appreciated. Can you see any fireworks from there? Is it possible to ask for a view of the River, and if so is that location good for other amenities as well?

We will be using the HH for games and crafts for my 5yo.

Thanks!

The BBQ grills at OKW are located by each of the 4 pools. You will need to have your own charcoal and supplies.

I think the very best views are from buildings 45 and 46. They are right along the canal, and are gorgeous! Here is a pic taken from the deck of our first floor unit in 46 last year.

Thank you! Love the pic!

Good question- is the other side a parking lot? I guess you just have to request water view?

Our stay at SSR last month was nice, we got the section and floor we wanted, but wound up with a parking lot view and a peek at the river. HOWEVER, the surprise bonus was 2 sets of fireworks viewable from our balcony and bedroom. Too cool!

Diane- any pics of the pool close to building 46?

Many thanks!
