I'm looking for ideas for DD5 who loves to build. Any recommendations for building sets such as: Magnetix, Imagenext and Lincoln Logs. What are your favorite sets. I've check Amazon for reviews, however, I'm looking for my Dis friends great ideas.

My kids love Lincoln Logs and LEGO's. We are getting more for Christmas because they fight over them!

We got Magnetix last year but they freaked me out because the metal balls are the perfect size to choke on.

DS3 just got a cool building set called SeaBonz. It is from Curious Toys (www.curioustoys.com) and is (whoops) actually for ages 5 and up. They have several other compatable sets such as DinoBonz and GloBonz. These sets are cool because they come with all kinds of body parts that can be mixed and matched in infinite ways and then the creation played with. DD5, my husband and I love making all kinds of crazy sea creatures. The parts are really neat because they are made out of different materials- soft rubber jellyfish tentacles to hard plastic "legs" that bend 180 degrees. This is one of the coolest toys I've seen in a long time!

My DS6, DS3, DNs, and all the friends absolutely, hands down, love the imaginext pirate ship best of all. They all have their eyes on the new King Arthur's castle that is available online at toysrus. They also love love love legos and keeps them playing for hours, but man those tiny pieces everywhere makes a mom want to just vacuum them all up!

My DS, who is 6, is a lego freak. He never got into his Magnetix. He does like Tinkertoys and Lincoln Logs, but not as much as Legos. We're getting him K'nex this year. We'll see how they go over.

My DD (3/almost 4) and DS (6) always, always go back to two toys. Lego's and Playmobil. They might put them down for a while to play with something else for a few days/weeks, but they always come back to those.

Our top 2 building toys:

My DS7 has played with the plastic tinkertoys for years. Toys have come & gone in our house, but these are ones he has used about the longest. He's played with them almost everyday for years.

He also has had a huge container of Bionicles (made by LEGO) for years which he plays with everyday. He creates all kinds of guys with these.

I think DS was about that age when he got K-nex. He really LOVED them. He was also a huge lego fan but like the basic set much better than those you follow directions to create one thing. We also have lincoln log and tinker toys but they got less play time. I like the sets that are open ended so much better.
