So, you can request a building? I didnt know that!! lol We have a preferred room package and was wondering what building everyone liked the best. We have 3 rooms and asked that they be together. What would you suggest???????

Thanks in advance!!! :wave2:

Well, since you have preferred room location you will be in the 60's decade. You might want to decide if you want to room adjoining (next to each other) or for 2 of them to be 'connecting'.

Here is a map to check out... http://www.kingdom-travel.com/Walt_...Pop_Century/Disney_Pop_Century_Resort_Map.pdf You should decide how close you want to be to the pool since sometimes it is louder there. I personally would ask for lake-view 4th floor since the view would be great and being on the 4th floor it might be quieter, but that is just me :)

I called the other day and requested the 70's building - I heard it was nice and it has the pop jet pool/playground that my dd's will love. The CM said it would be no problem for us to be in that building...

I love POP! I stayed in the 80's building, 4th floor, facing away from the pool, and overlooking the lake. Wonderful! :)

How offten do you get the requests that you ask for? We asked for top floor, lake view in the 60's building...what do you all think are chances are of getting those requests?

Actually, I was bumped from the All Stars. There were no more non-smoking rooms on the entire All Stars property when I arrived (about 7pm - flight and other stuff caused me to arrive six hourse late). The only option was to go to POP. I really did enjoy POP! :)

I think it depends on how busy they are at that time.. When I called to make our building request the other day I asked the CM what the probability would be that we would get the requested building. She said that since we are going at a slower time 10/1-10/6 - it would be no problem because the resort is not up to capacity.

Are all lake view rooms considered preferred rooms, or only in some of the buildings?

The 60's buildings are the preferred ones. You have to pay extra for those. We stayed in 70's building #10 on the corner closest to the food court. It was a short walk to the food court and the bus stop.

I was in the 70's building #6 (I think) on the lake side on the ground floor and I was blown away by how beautiful and quiet it was. Very short walk to food court and bus stop and the lake was literally right outside our door!! We also had a group of very long legged birds outside our room every evening. We loved it and will always request that area!

Both times when we have stayed at POP we have asked for the 50's building (the Lady one), top floor not facing the pool, and both times we got our requests. This building is the closest to the main building (not including the 60s) thats why we always ask for it.
We have the same requests for our upcoming Sept trip as well!!! :teeth:

We stayed at Pop last week and requested top floor, 70's section, Illuminations view and we were put in the top floor of the 50's section, pool view. We didn't mind though because we loved the section and the room that we were in. As others have mentioned I'm sure it has to do with the time of year you go. We went over Memorial weekend and I'm sure they were full or nearly full. In fact, our first 2 nights were at CSR and we were downgraded from a preferred room to a standard (but that's another story!!).

We stayed in the 70s building #6 facing the lake and it was very quiet. There no activities on this side of the building, so that must be why it's quiet. Your DD will love the popjets; the little we watched sure did. My girls are young adults, so they used the HippyDippy pool every day. The 70s is close to Classic Hall, but a long walk from the 70s parking lot with baggage. Still, I wouls stay there again. Great housekeeping, the resort is always immaculate.

We had connecting rooms with my parents who went with us - it was nice and seemed to "open up" our room a little more when we would leave our doors open. We stayed in a "perferred" room. We were in room 5330 I believe. This was in building 5 next to the hippy dippy pool. We were on level three and we were on the opposite side of the pool facing the lake. That pool got so loud. Our whole party commented that we would never want to stay there facing the pool. We had an easy walk to the pool but a wonderful view of the lake which was nice. Good luck with your choice !! :confused3

I'm having second thoughts of what I requested...and the fact that we booked the perferred 60's building....It sounds like we really can't go wrong with any of the rooms or buildings.

I know my DD7 would just LOVE the Yo-yo stairwells. She is a HUGE yo-yo fan.

Were going at the end of Oct. 05...Maybe I should give them a call and inquire about that time of the year...and how likely our requests would be honnored.

I was actually wanting the lake view, top floor...for the view of the fireworks...but I know the parks close early durring that time of the year...so I'm not even sure we would be able to see any in the first place...after all were only there for three nights...and plan on being at the park (MK) from open to close....matter of fact..the more I think of our game plan and try to fit in pool time and DD time...I'm just not finding enough time in the day.

So...now I'm stuck trying to decide if we should change from the prefered section... and just take what ever we get. The hardest part is....we'd only save $30 since were only there for three nights...but we're in a group with two other rooms...so overall we'd save $90. Heck....maybe it would be nicer to have a pool view...

I don't think all of the lake view rooms are considered preferred. There were some 80's/90's rooms that were not preferred that overlooked the lake.

What icons are on the outside of the 70's and 50's buildings? I really don't care which section we're in, but I know my DS's age 3 & 6 wouldn't know a Rubik's Cube at all, lol!

TIA! ::MickeyMo

I just got back from POP and I paid for preferred section and requested bottom floor closest to food court. I was told no problem and my ta even spoke to a room assigner a few days before we left and again was told no problem. When I got there I was given 3rd floor in the back preferred bldg. Exact opposite of what I requested. :confused3 It was a great location facing the lake and I could see the fireworks from my bed at night but it was really hard on my ds who has cp and can't walk very far. So don't get your hopes up about any location.

I always request the 70s. Most of the time I get it. Last trip I checked in at 1 AM and was placed in the 90s, 4th floor overlooking the computer pool. I don't mind that much, it's just a little further to walk.
