- I'll be the pale old lady (who hasn't seen the sun for months) wandering around with an even older paler lady (Mom) and of course DH and DD (who is 12 going on 20 - and probably will be a few steps away from us as to not let anyone think she's actually WITH us old people)

Aulani isn't too too difficult to get into at 7 months if you're flexible with your room type. If you decide to buy DVC, I'd recommend buying Saratoga Springs resale, with the option to use those points at Aulani at the 7 month booking window.

What kinds of rooms are typically available at 7 mos? We are pretty flexible for travel dates, and don’t care about view all that much. Is it feasible to get ocean view studios? Or any studios?

Yes, ocean view studios are almost always available at 7 months except for Christmas. You'll never ever get a standard view.

Our last two trips were booked about 3-4 months out. The first was a gardens view studio (but it was high enough there was a peek-a-boo ocean view, though the trees have probably grown taller) and the last time was a one bed pool view. We also saw some studios available too - don't recall which views.
This trip (Jan 6-17) coming up has been the hardest to find enough days. We only booked in Oct tho. So 3 days we are staying someplace else.

We are at our 17 days until Aulani, but we leave in 14 with a few days at DL first. So excited!
