Is anyone familiar with these? I was wondering if you actually made the bear or if it came pre-made but you buy the accessories to "decorate it"? I tried searching the website but couldn't find anything that really answered my question.

Thanks!!:D

You pick out a bear or other animal that is not stuffed. You bring it over to the stuffing machine and the workers fill it. You can then buy accessories to go with the animal you made. It is very fun, but can be very expensive depending on how elaborate you go. We have the basic bear and some outfits, but nothing crazy.

You buy the bear "skin", then stuff it. You can then dress up your bear or not- the accesories are really cute. There is alot more than just clothes- you can get furniture, shoes, glasses- even rollerskates!

When you pick out the type of animal you want, the employee will ask how firm you want it stuffed. You can also include a music or voice box into the bear before it is closed up. Then you will put a little red satin heart into it before they sew up the back- if a child is making the bear, they have a cute sort of "ceremony" to do that.

Build-A-Bear can get a little expensive (all those cute accessories!), but it is fun to do.:sunny:

You pick out a shell. Then you get to put a heart in it and take it to the "stuffing " machine. They put the fill in and tie it up for you. Then you take it to this machine that blows all the excess fluff off. After that you get to dress it up.

It's really fun. I made one for myself when I took the kids!

Sounds like fun!!! I noticed that there isn't one nearby so I'd have to order it online if I wanted to get one. It caught my attention since I collect bears and this would be a cool way to have a "personal" bear!!

Thanks for your reply!!:D

:teeth: This has become one of my addictions

This is Lily's new outfit that she got yesterday!

Nancy,

Lily looks very chic!!!::yes:: :D

She says Thank you.

BaB is very addicting. The clothes....and animals are SO cute!
You're lucky that you don't have one nearby.
Mine is about 45 miles....and that doesn't stop me!! ;)

Hey,

We did "build a dog" in Destin, Fl on our vacaiton. Beagle of course.

I saw build a bear outfits at target the other day, fyi.

herc.

I LOVE Build a bear! I took my twins this past summer and they had a blast. The girls working there were so nice! They really paid attention to the kids, having them make their wish on their hearts, letting them stuff the teddies and talking to them. It's definitely worth a day trip to do it in person if you can at all.
BTW, Target is now sellling prestuffed Build a bear bears and their clothes. http://www.target.com/gp/search.htm...words=build+a+bear&url=index=target&x=18&y=10

I saw at HObby Lobby last week bear shells, and they sold bags of stuffing, clothes, voice recorders, etc. I think doing it IN the store would be more fun (DH and I make one for each vacation we take BTW) but buying it like that and doing it at home would be more fun that just ordering one already done... you would still get to stuff it, add a voice, etc.

Lots of places are selling the clothes now, too.

What do you mean child :teeth: we got to do this when i was on holiday in the states, it was rather embarassing but still fun to do.

I dressed mine in a black t shirt and gave him an american flag, he is called Samuel Adams ( after the beer that we may have had one or two or three off while on holiday).

I haven't read all the other posts so I am not sure if anyone else warned you but.....

About the ones at Target.....I have only seen the little ones at the Targets near me. Is that it? Or are they going to be full size?

That's all my Target has too, just the small ones and their clothes.

We love Build a Bear, but we need to stay away for now LOL. DS has 2, DD has 4, and I have 1.

kirstyfly, I should have said "child ar heart"! It seems that everyone gets to do the wishing, rubbing the heart , kissing it, etc. ceremony. It is kinda embarrassing, but fun. My DD took it so seriously, though. She was kissing and wishing with all her little heart!:teeth:

Very cute!

When I was pregnant with DD, we took DS to BAB to make a new teddy bear to give to his new sister when she was born. He took every decision quite seriously. The woman who was doing the stuffing asked DS about the bear, he told her he was making it for his new baby. Since DS and DD have very Irish names, she found a shamrock to put inside the stuffing for her along with the heart. I really thought that was special for him. He was so proud!

The day she came home from the hospital, we couldn't even get her out of the carrier before DS was shoving the bear into her arms. (It was twice the size of her)

We have a Build A Bear here at Broadway at the Beach. It is always packed in there with a line to get in (in the summer of course). They are also a client of mine - a GREAT company and so much fun, and yes it is addictive!

If you haven't done this and have kids - it's a must do!! ENJOY! Oh, one neat tidbit - it was started by a single mom who is now worth millions. She has been copied by "Wacky Bear and Teddy Town" but they haven't had the success she has - nor are there stores as fun! Here is the website...

Enjoy, have fun, and save up - it can get $$$ fast::yes::

That story is so touching! My brother and his girlfriend gave me a BaB gift card last Xmas, but I've been too busy to check it out!

Maybe I should...
