Hi. How bad are the bugs in June? What's the best stuff to do, how often, etc... thanks!!

On Disney property, they're kept well in control year-round, in my experience. I've also seen a short segment on TV discussing their bug-fogging tasks, which they must do in the middle of the night. Off property, I have less knowledge...

We just got back yesterday- no bugs of any kind the entire week, even in the evening. Must be some heavy duty pest control.

Hi there
I don't know for sure this works but I have seen it everywhere. Living in S. Fla I am definitely trying it this year. Bounce fabric sheets are supposed to keep mosquitos away. You can just tie one through your belt loop and it is supposed to work great! Also, mosquitos are out the worst during early morn in late afternoon. Avoid standing water. Windy days are the best. Good luck!

My 9month old ds Ped. told me to use downey sheets and rub it on his arms and legs. She swears by it and also said it was safer than using OFF!! I'm all for it.

The only time I've experienced any mosquitos at WDW was this past October at the Poly beach at night. We tried to sit on a chaise and enjoy the atmosphere but we gave up after a few minutes and went indoors. I had packed some Burt's Bees insect stuff but didn't put it on that night.

My father always used to tell me they don't allow bees, bugs, and mosquitos at Disney.

As an adult Disney traveller I find he is so right!

We had an experience at night on our balcony at the Poly with mosquitos though.

Thanks for the great advise. I'm going to take a long some downey or bounce sheets, just in case. I also checked out the mosquito forecaster......that is great! Never heard of such a thing! The reason I asked this question is because when I was at WDW about 5 1/2-6 yrs. ogo, we had a terrible bug problem. I asked someone at MGM and they told me it was "love bug mating season". I know, that sounds kinda funny, but true! They were these black flying bugs an they were everywhere!! Even smashed all over the ground. I dont know what kind of bugs are "love bugs"...does anyone know? Also, I thought it was VERY strange when we were driving around Orlando and peoples' back yards were enclosed in these net things. Lots of them. I found out it was to keep the bugs out. That was a very scary thought! Guess I'm just spoiled and dont have to deal with that volume of bugs. EEEEKKKK!!

Oh Yes the Love BUgs are famous in Fla. We don't get so many down here in S. Fla but they swarm in central Fla. They do not bite and are not dangerous but they sure will mess up your car and be in the way. I do not know if anything repells love bugs. I would try the bounce and dryer sheets and try. Keep strong and remember they don't bite and that you are in Disney so all is well. :D

Downey & Bounce sheets! That is great advice. I was going to bring some for the laundry anyway, so now I will double up. (I just found out we get to go to WDW again this June!!!) :teeth:

Unfortunately there is absolutely nothing that can be done to repel Love Bugs. They don't bite or hurt you in any way though so I would just let them go on their annoying way. I have dealt with them my entire life living here in Florida, you get used to them after a while.
