I am thinking of not taking our 3 3/4 year old daughter to Honey I Shrunk the Audience and a Bugs Life beacause I read they could be too scary. But then both of these also rated highly for preschoolers. Any thoughts or experiences on this? Thanks!!!

I know that every child is different, but you might try taking your little one and being prepared to leave if need be?

We took our DD to Disneyland for her 10th birthday (well, a little bit before it), and A Bug's Life *terrified* her - she was in tears at the end. I felt horrible! But she's a very sensitive girl.

Honey, I Shrunk the Kids didn't bother her at all, though.

if they dont wear the glasses and sit on your lap it wont be that scarry. the thing is that a points in the shows things pop out of your seat and poke you and things run over your feet and it is really freaky even for adults. my ds 8 hates all the 3d shows for this reason we have to force him to go in and he is always crying on the way out.

My DS7 HATED Honey I Shrunk the Kids and my DH hand to leave with him. He would go into ITTBAB only after my daughter and I pre-screened it and told him what to expect. He hated the feeling of being little and everyone on the screen being so big, the movements, etc. didn't really both him.

It all depends on the kid. My 3.5 y/o liked HISTA but was freaked out by the spiders and Hopper in ITTBAB. We told him it would be dark and scary, but he wanted to see it. He spent most of the show with his hands ove rhis eyes, occasionally peeking out.

DS actually hit me in the face trying to get away from the spiders and in my lap during the Big's Life. It broke my 3d glasses!! I wouldn't recommend it for sure! He was fine on Honey I Shrunk the Kids.

Have fun!

We went to see Bug´s Life last year with my almost 4 year old and 6 year old sons. Both of them were absolutely terrified & in tears during the most of the show. They still talk about it, remind us not to to there during our next trip. But of course it depends on kids. For adults & older kids it is a super show.

I didn't care for HISTA because of the way the lines feed into the theater!! When the doors open they don't feed into a particular row. The brilliant individuals around us kept cutting us off, then they stopped MID-ROW to sit down. After nearly being trampled we moved back several rows and found good seats.

I can see younger kids being scared of the show - DS8 found it a little creepy in parts.

DS8 also found ITTBAB creepy in parts. He missed some of the tactile stuff because he was leaning into MY seat - you have to be in the middle of the chair and leaning back to get the full effect. He usually isn't scared of things, but he did think the 3D shows were kind of freaky.

I think they are both too scary. I had to leave Bug's Life with my 3 year old daughter. That was 5 years ago. We have never tried it again. No desire. We have done the HISM whatever years ago - before the girls were born - but it is scary -things come at your feet and too much in your face stuff. It would have them squirming and screaming.

I don't recommend these for younger kids at all.... Well I don't even like them.

My daring DD( just 4 on our trip) LOVED all the 3D shows - especailly TTBAB! We had already decided no to take her on it beforehand but seeing how she coped with Muppets/HISTA/Shrek we thought we'd risk it - and she thought it was great and wanted to do it again!!!!!

Each kid is different - as others have said, sit close to one of the exit dors so you can make a quick dash if need be!!!!!

Bug's Life was too scary for my then 4 y/o son. We ended up leaving after the show started. He totally freaked out. Now he is 6 1/2 and refuses to even give it a try.

My 7 year old won't do either show, but LOVES Philharmagic and Muppets 3D, I think these are both very suitable for kids, and let them experience 3D shows. I wouldn't take an under 10 on it's tough to be a bug - I was scared!
