I'm trying to decide weather to take a buggy into the park or to rent one through a Dream AP when I get there. Little man will be 18 months old so can go on my shoulders from the car park to the park.

I'm worried about leaving my own buggy lying around at the entrance to rides etc. How safe are buggys there? As this will be my first time with a child/baby I've never noticed before hand!!

There is a place to put your buggy whilst your on the rides. I have found it to be perfectly safe, just take the bags off them when your on the ride.

You might be better taking your own as the DLRP ones don't recline & quite upright so if your DS wants to sleep it maybe difficult.

Buggies are quite safe as there are stroller parks near most of the rides. We never had a problem when we were there in February. Put something on it like a ribbon or something to make it more noticeable amongst the masses there. There is bound to be someone with the same one as you!

It seemed perfectly safe when we were there. So I guess it's just what's easiest for your own personal circumstances. Will it be easier at airport/on train etc with a buggy? Also, if you are staying onsite and planning to walk to the parks, your own buggy might be handy, but if you don't need it for any of these, I'd just hire one since it's free. No point lugging about extra weight if you don't need to.

we've always taken our own and never had any problems even when hubby left rucksack containing camcorder, euros for the entire trips, passports, tickets, etc, etc all sitting on the pram outside It's a Small World ... part way through I nearly made him get out and start wading to get to the bag quicker. Anyhow putting that to one side we've never had any problems and I prefer to take my own, the ones on site look great but don't recline and have a very small hood which looks like it wouldn't do a lot in the rain ! Tie a ribbon or a balloon to your buggie and it will be just fine, we usually leave the change bag on the pram and we've never had any problems.

i would take your own, like said they dont look too comfy ! ok if its a 2.5+ yr old just needing to rest legs, not sleep

but not good for a sleeping toddler

my SIL took her own 2 buggies and had no probs
its just like leaving them at a UK theme park etc whilst on rides

They don't fold up if you want to take them out of the parks either (which you can do if you pay a suitably large deposit).

Thanks for all the help. I guess I'm just a little untrusting of others! I've just got this really big fear of someone stealing the buggy and having to buy another one!

If you're that worried then you could always get a cheap bike lock, although we've never had a problem with our own.

We did have an on site one disappear once, but that was when we left it with no bags on the back.

i know this may sound a little extreme, but we have a large expensive special needs jogger and we use a small bike lock when we leave ours. ds would be devasted if someone ever walked off with his, it was bad enough when our rented one went missing, not easy carrying a 10 year old from one end of the park to another.

I think you'd be better off taking your own buggy. We found DLRP being the safest place to be in no trouble whatsoever... We always take our own buggy, never lock it or anything. Just make sure you don't leave anything on it.

Anya (DD2) will be 2 and 3 months when we go in Dec, she'll still be having a nap and I'll still be going with my own buggy to let her have a 'decent' sleep if we're in the parks...

If you're really worried, you could always buy one of the cheapy lightweight pushchairs? Think you can pick them up for about a tenner or look on your local freecycle site you might get one for free. That way if the worst was to happen you'd still have your good buggy.

We have an old cheap one that we would take so it wouldn't be a loss in that sence, I'm just tight fisted when it comes to unneccesary purchases and wouldn't want to buy another one!!!

One of my downfalls I guess but then I have more money for DLRP!

I completely understand. My sister keeps moaning at me that I'm such a cheapskate when I have no serious money worries, but I have to tighten the belt somewhere to get to Disneyland with lots of spending money. I'd rather spend it in DLP on lots of stuff I don't need than here on lots of stuff I don't need :rotfl: :rotfl:

I have had no trouble leaving my buggy in DLP, i think people have better things to do then steal someones buggy. I will be taking mine after much deliberation on this trip.
