Planning my 2008 Disney trip and jotting down several restaurants that I would like try. Looking at the list there seems to be a lot of buffets. I have joked to my friend that this Disney vacation is titled Mickey and Gorge Vacation. Got a funny look when I said that.

Anyway here is what the dining itinerary looks like subject to thousands of changes.

Saturday May 17 POFQ food court
Sunday May 18 Crystal Palace
Monday May 19 BOMA
Tuesday May 20 Coral Reef or Garden Grill
Wednesday May 21 Hollywood and Vine
Thursday 22 Chef Mickey or 1900 Park Fare
Friday 23 Garden Grill or Coral Reef
Saturday 24 Tusker House
Sunday 25 leaving Disney

Again subject to change.

Comments and suggestions always appreciated.

Looks good though we didn't care much for the Garden Grill ourselves. The characters were friendly but the food was so so and the setting was tight and dark so hard to get good pics with the characters.

Do you have kids? It would be a factor too. My son was 5 when we went to Biergarten and he had a blast. It is also buffet, food was good, the entertainment was great and we got a break (dare I say it:rolleyes1) from character dining!

One caveat and that is they seat you at tables with other families. It didn't bother us as we are used to it from other places but some do seem to have a problem with it.

Whispering Canyon is also a fun buffet though without the characters.

Hmm ...Skeletor..I can picture the cartoon but can't think of the name now...I'll probably wake up in the middle of the night remembering!

Love Crystal Palace for breakfast and Chef Mickey's for dinner. We are trying Boma this year. We have not done Garden Grill or Coral Reef in years.
Biergarten is another great buffet with the live band.
We did not like Hollywood & Vine at all and refuse to go back (terrible service, lukewarm food and very dirty).

Well, I think the buffets are great. That way you can control what you eat and there's always salad and fruit if you are trying to eat healthy. I love Boma, love the chracter buffets ( have been to all the ones you listed but Garden Grill which is not a buffet but is all you can eat) and like your Coral Reef choice. Coral Reef is about experience and food and is very relaxing. Love that place, especially their desserts and lobster bisque.

The only thing I might suggest is switching out Hollywood and Vine for either Prime Time or Sci Fi. Both of those are so fun, so Disney and you just can't dine with that level of entertainment factor at home. If you are basing your Hollywood and Vine solely on the Fantasmic Dinner Package reconsider. You don't even get the best seats with that package and really just get there around 45-60 minutes early, get a good seat and then you don't have to eat at one of the places on the package. If you go with the package I would suggest Mama Melrose's instead. I have to agree with KatMark, my experience with H & V is the one and only, truly bad meal I have had in ten trips to WDW. Now that is just my experience but really I just love the atmosphere and experience of Sci Fi and Prime Time so much, (plus the fact I don't think the Fantasmic Dinner Pkg. is even necessary), I can't not go to those!

I too love the buffets with or without characters. There is alway something for everyone. We have 2 Dnieces and 2 Dnephews that we take to WDW. When they were in their pre teen years, buffets were the way to go. They got full and it didn't break the bank.

I'm making my reservations this Tuesday and have my fingers crossed that I will be able to reserve most of the restaurants on my list. I do love buffets hence so many on my list. I ate at SciFi Cafe last year. The burger meal was okay but the atmosphere was awesome. I always regretted not ordering a milk shake instead of a coke. Love the Brown Derby and their Cobb salad but have eaten there during my last two trips. Hence my choice of Hollywood and Vine but I may change that to MM or the 50's restaurant.

You did not say if you were on the DP. If you are and can get it keep Hollywood and Vine and try to get the Fantasmic package. Also why are you waiting to make ADRs? You are "late" and waiting won't help that.

Not on the DP Plan; just seems too complicated and expensive for me. I'm late about making the reservations but have an excuse of sorts. Susan, my friend who is going with me, couldn't believe how many restaurants there are in Disney and couldn't make up her mind. Also I couldn't make up my mind either! My last two visits I ate a lot of hamburgers and Disney fast food; want to try and break the habit this year.
