Buffets and Vegans?

I am just going over our ADR's for our trip next week and I made a number character buffet reservations for my DS3, but in looking at the menus, I see my DH, who is vegan, is going to be hard-pressed to put a breakfast together! We are eating at:

Hollywood & Vine (breakfast)
Crystal Palace (breakfast)
Chef Mickey's (dinner)
1900 Park Fare (breakfast)

I was hoping some other vegans could weigh in on what my DH can eat at these restaurants? Or should I plan on getting him something at a CS afterward? Thanks!

If you post over on the disabilities board they can help you.

However I do know that even at buffets if you list it on your reservaton ahead of time the chef can prepare you something specific or come out and tell you what you can and can't (shouldn't) eat.

Although we have never eaten (as vegans) at any of the restaurants listed, I think your husband will be fine. Just make sure to contact the Special Dietary Hotline about a month or so before your trip. We were told at a couple of our breakfast meals that all of the restaurants have the ability to make vegan waffles/pancakes. We usually ate oatmeal, fruit and waffles/pancakes for breakfast. I can't help you with the buffet for dinner. The only dinner buffet we did was Tusker House. It was great. We found that it was easy being a vegan at Disney.

I have a dairy allergy and eat no meat although I do eat eggs if they are cooked in food (but never alone...yuck). When you get to the restuarant just let them know at check in that you need to speak to the chef b/c you have allergies or food preferences. Some vegans have reported that it has been easier to say they are allergic to dairy/meat etc versus trying to explain they are vegan.

I know I have gotten mickey waffles made for me at both food courts and restaurants that are dairy and egg free. I think the mix they use is egg free/df/gr. The bagels are dairy free and often the potatoes are. I have never been offered dairy free cream cheese but I also never asked. At Crystal Palace they just heated up some Van's allergy waffles, which are tasty but nothing special.

There will be no baked goods that are vegan as all the pastries are made in mass for all the restaurants. I always wished for just one dairy free muffin or cinnamon roll but no such luck.

Thanks everyone! I sent our dietary form in this morning and if he can get some waffles and fruit I think he will be happy! Good to know the buffets can accommodate him! Thanks again for the great info!
