Made a reservation at Tusker House and now I'm second guessing this as a good place for me and DD to eat at. She is 9 and very mature for her age. Is the Disney police going to come after me with flames if I leave her sitting at the table to go get more food or go to the restroom? Or if I allow her to go back up to the buffet without me? :confused3

I've done well so far avoiding buffets, but I really would like to eat at Tusker house. :rolleyes1

We have dined there before. She should be fine. There is so much going on in the dining rooms during breakfast, that I doubt anyone will even notice her sitting alone for a few minutes.

Have a great trip!

I doubt any CM would say anything. I don't think it's an issue to leave her at the table alone for a few minutes.

But if I saw a 9 yr old at the buffet alone, I would think that's somewhat rude to other patrons. I have no way of knowing your child is mature for their age and I would be worried the child isn't going to be considerate of sanitation standards - leaving serving utensil handles in the food, possibly reaching in to things with their hands, coughing on the food, etc.

Although, a lot of adults do those things anyway.

Not sure why they would say anything, as she is not a baby. Maybe you can ask to get a table that is close to the buffet area. Some of them are not.

I have done solo trips with my dd at age 4 and 7 and when she was 7 I left her at the table if I went up to the buffet, we were almost always within sight of each other & typically the waiter/waitress seemed to take not of the situation and check to see if they needed a drink or have a chat when I was up there. I did not leave her when I went to the restroom, but she was 7 so that is something I was not comfortable with. At age 9 (which my dd is now) I would leave her at the table to hit the restroom or allow her to go up to the buffet alone.

I'm nearly positive no one will say anything. My 10 year old made plenty of buffet trips by himself this trip, and it was totally fine.

I guess I should have actually said the Dis police. Didn't want to come back and read a thread about me leaving my child at the table unattended. :rotfl:

LOL!!!:rotfl: I am sure your child is capable of successfully getting food and can wait a moment for a bathroom break!!!! Go and have fun!!!!!!

I believe children can enter the WDW parks alone at age 8 so technically they could have their own ADR and eat at restaurants completely alone (not that my almost 8 y/o would be dropped off and left at any amusement park).

DS and I were on a trip just the 2 of us. Every TS meal we had was a buffet because he wanted to see as many characters as possible! When he (or I) wanted more food, I would quickly get it for us. He was at the table for few minutes. I am sure she will be fine! Enjoy your trip!
