I just received a bunch of info about menus and beverage options. Talk about sticker shock! At a venue w/ a $100 minimum (ADH), with a cocktail hour, buffet dinner, and beverages, it looks like we won't actually be anywhere near that minimum.
What i'm confused about is the buffet choices...it seems like there are only 2 options: one menu that's $99 pp(The "Glass Slipper" dinner), and one that's $110pp (a cocktail hour/buffet package). They both include a bunch of desserts, which we don't want since we'll be having wedding cake. I assume the cost will be lower if you can take away the things you don't want, but of course once you add the cost of the cake, it will probably add up to the same total anyway...
Add on the food for cocktail hour (which starts at $28 pp), and beverages (which range from $15pp for soda/water for 3 hours to $28 pp for an open bar w/ beer, wine, and liquor) and the total per person cost is in the $150-$170 range.
I know this is something i could talk to my planner about, but thought I'd come here first for your thoughts! Is it really that unreasonable to stay close to the $100 minimum for a buffet dinner and still offer guests some sort of alcoholic beverage option?? And are there other buffet options that I am missing? I thought there'd be more than just TWO choices.
