I am bidding on priceline but in the meantime it has been recommnded I book a room. parksleepfly.com is where I am looking.

Does anyone have input as to whether I should choose Microtel or Rodeway Inn. It is a just a place to sleep the night before flight and night we get back, obviously I'm also looking for a safe place to leave the car.

Microtel I keep my car key and there is no statement from Rodeway, that would be the deal breaker.

Thank you in advance...

There's a Quality Inn right across the street from BUF that I used last summer and I've booked again for the end of April. They give you a tag to display in your car and you just leave your car in their lot and take your keys with you. They have a shuttle bus that goes to/from the airport, but honestly it was so close, I just walked across the street.

Call them up and ask about their park and fly rate. It will likely be more than whatever you're seeing on Priceline, though.

Sorry to say I don't have any info about either Rodeway or Microtel.

Travelzoo has a special listed for The Millennium beside the Walden Galleria. site: www.travelzoo.ca listed under this weeks top 20.

$88 Cdn per night with breakfast and free parking for 14 days and airport shuttle.

Hotel is ok. I have stayed there before, but would never pay more than this price. We are staying April 29. Last time we stayed I wasn't impressed, but this time I will make sure our room is up to my cleaning standards!

If you book through Priceline and bid on the 3.5* hotel in the Buffalo area you will get the Buffalo Marriott Niagara. Wait till 1 week prior to requiring the room and you should get it for $60.00. I would start at $50.00 and work my way up until your bid is accepted. It is the only 3.5* hotel in all 7 geographic zones for Buffalo area so you can bid 7 times within a 24hr period. Just add another zone if your bid is rejected. You can leave your vehicle for free and catch the free shuttle to the airport.

Thanks to Webworm and others :worship: we also bid on Priceline for a 3.5 star and got Buffalo Marriott about two weeks ago. Very nice hotel for $60! Our flight was leaving at 6:30 am and I was told by the front desk that the shuttle starts at 5:00 am.

I was nervous that we would be late so sent my family into the lobby at 4:20 am. The shuttle driver took us at 4:45 and we had plenty of time to get to the gate.

I will most definitely stay there again and thought the price was a steal.

Also got a follow-up email from the manager asking if the stay was up to our standards and asking for feedback.

webworm, I am doing priceline but along with the advice from you and others I am trying to book a room 'just in case' I don't get the priceline room.

When you go to Priceline - You Bid section, there is a list of different areas. I want to see if I have this correct, since there is no other 3.5* it doesn't matter which area you check off.

Buffalo Amherst
Buffalo Airport
Buffalo Downtonw
East Niagara Falls
Grand Island
Niagara Falls
South Buffalo, Hamburg

On the Marriott site, they do have a rate for Park & Fly. Will they charge us once we are at the hotel for parking since we didn't book this room package.

Anybody know what the rate at one of the airport parking lots? Our flight is at 4:45pm on a Sunday and returning 5pm Saturday.

If you have more than 2 people in your party be sure to check Microtel will accomodate you, I think a few in the area only have beds for 2 but I could be wrong

You can park in the long term A lot for $55 per week and there is a $5 coupon on the airport website.

You are correct on the bidding. No they will not charge you for parking even though you booked through Priceline. You can call the hotel directly to confirm if you wish.

we really want to stay at the marriot, but i am so worried we will not make our time, the shuttle starts at 5:00, but our flight is at 6:50, not sure if we should chance it or not.

When we stayed at the Marriott our flight was at 6:30 am and we were told the first shuttle was at 5:00 am. We got to the lobby at 4:45 am and the driver took us right away. It is a 12 minute ride. We had plenty of time for our flight. Even went and had breakfast after we got through security.

Is this the Marriott in Amherst across from UB? It's a good 15-20 mins from the airport, with no traffic on the expressway. Any of the hotels on Genesee St. are literally across the street from the airport. Any of the hotels off Transit like the Microtel is about 10 mins, Hamburg is a good 25-30 mins. All of the hotels on Genesee with the exception of one or two have park/fly packages and shuttles. I never get to the Buffalo airport more than an hour ahead of time, I've flown every day of the week and never found it to be busy or really backed up since it's so small.

It is the Buffalo Niagara Marriott in Amherst and it is between a 10 and 12 minute drive door to door. In fact, it was 12 minutes from hotel to airport and just today we got back, called the shuttle which arrived in minutes. It took exactly 10 minutes to get to the hotel. Certainly did not take us 15 - 20minutes.

I live in Buffalo and drive from Amherst to Cheektowaga every day for work. Like I said, depending on when you go, it can easily take 15-20 minutes. The 290 is high traffic at peak times and the I-90, which is the New York State Thruway, can also get very backed up. And that's the only way to get there unless you take back roads which will most certainly take at least 20 minutes. But if you're going at 5am, you could probably get there in 8 minutes! My point, trying to be helpful, was that there are literally hotels across the street from the airport that take 3 minutes to get to with no need for the highway. If you're partial to Marriott, the Courtyard Marriott across the street on Genesee will be open soon.

Rodeway I don't believe we saw that you could leave cars there. We stayed there in February (for Family Day) and will be doing so again in May for the trip. We're renting a car and then dropping it at the airport which wasn't a bad price at all (but it's 5 adults paying for everything equally). It's a nice hotel and was I think $75 (actually it was $67+tax for the night. And no, you can't leave your car at the hotel. Also as a side note, always check the website of the actual hotel. I find sometimes its actually cheeper to book right through them than expedia or hotwire or other sites that are similar.) It's 2 minutes from a 24 Tim Horton's and less than 10 from the airport along Transit Road.
