Buena Vista Palace room recommendation

we are checking into the Hilton palace on Wednesday. I have heard many shaky reviews of this hotel that include smelly, dirty and worn rooms. Has anyone stayed here recently and can recommend a nice clean room to select at online checkin? Thanks in advance.

I stayed there in November for 9 days with an employee discount, in the island tower. By that time, it seemed that most if not all of the rooms had been renovated, though I did see someone outside a room with a cart of tools from across the atrium. I had no complaints about the room. The only issue I had was that upon arrival the refrigerator wasn’t working properly, but they sent a new one over quickly.

One thing to note about online check-in is that the maps you'll see don't show quirks of the hotel. By that I mean things like HVAC equipment, garbage dumpsters, exterior lighting, or loading docks. Other people may disagree, but I think the best way to get the room you want is to enlist the expertise of the Front Desk representatives. Check-in at the Front Desk and be explicit about what you want.

My TA just toured this resort and she liked it. Since Hilton took it over it’s been renovated. Pool complex looks great. I think a lazy river too. And walking distance to Disney Springs.

This hotel went through an extensive renovation when it was converted to a Hilton, it is practically a new hotel now.. I haven't had a chance to see it for myself yet but I have heard great things ever since Hilton took over!

As far as selecting a room, if it's your first time there I would recommend not using the online check-in and instead checking in at the Front Desk, there is no point in pre-selecting a room if you are not familiar with the hotel and have never stayed there before, it would be best to have a knowledgeable hotel staff member help you with the process to ensure that you get the room that you truly prefer..
