Buena Vista Palace, Hilton

Really interesting, thanks for sharing. Interesting to have properties so close together (across the street from each other basically) though I guess it makes some sort of sense.

Curious as to if they will keep it named BVP by Hilton or change the name totally?

Well, since the Doubletree up the street is a Hilton-branded property, it's not that far-fetched an idea. I wonder if they're going to turn it into a Hampton or Hilton Garden Inn

The Buena Vista Palace has multiple restaurants, a spa, and 90,000 square feet of meeting space. Due to that, there's no chance it will be flagged as a Hampton. Without massive changes in the restaurant, it couldn't become a Hilton Garden Inn because that brand includes a full, cooked-to-order breakfast for all guests.

Although not listed on their website or the Hilton, a third-party site (Otel) notes: "The hotel will undergo renovation throughout the property between 09/01/2015 and approximately 08/01/2016. The hotel will continue to operate a full service during this time, although there may be some changes and closures to facilities."

I foresee one of two things happening. First, the existing Hilton Lake Buena Vista might be re-flagged as a non-Hilton hotel. That sort of thing happens occasionally. If I remember my Hotel Plaza history correctly, the Hilton is the only hotel that hasn't undergone a change in brand. In that scenario, the Buena Vista Palace would become a Hilton.

In the second scenario, the Hilton Lake Buena Vista remains and the Buena Vista Palace would become part of the Curio Collection by Hilton. Curio is a new brand started in 2014. That brand is for upscale hotels, which means the renovation would need to be completed prior to an official rebranding.

Yeah, possibly. I forgot about the Curio Collection. Would be neat to see what it turns out to be.

I would think one of those could happen, yes. Especially your second scenario, which to me makes the most sense considering the "style" of the property.

Though I believe the Holiday Inn on Hotel Plaza Blvd. has always been Holiday Inn as well. I could be wrong there, but I think it has. The Double Tree has always been the double tree I thought, though rebranded Hilton at some point, correct? Fun to think back on what all the properties have been named.

Wyndham LBV > Regal Sun > Grosvenor Resort > Dutch Boy

B Resort > Royal Plaza

Buena Vista Palace > Was called something else at one point, just forgot

The Doubletree opened as the Pickett Suites in 87. In December 1989, Guest Quarters acquired the Pickett Suites brand, and the Pickett Suites Resort was re-flagged as a Guest Quarters Suite Hotel shortly afterward. Four years later DoubleTree Hotels acquired the Guest Quarters brand; the former Guest Quarters Suite Hotel was re-flagged as DoubleTree Guest Suite hotels during the first half of 1995.

Totally forgot about Guest Quarters, they were like one of the first fancy all suite hotels.

Holiday Inn, originally I believe was a Howard Johnsons.

Best Western, originally I believe was a Travel Lodge.
