Budgeting for trip!

Okay....I need help to pay for a trip that I really don't want to pull from savings from at all. We do put regularly into savings and I dont' want to see the money gone at all!

Here is the plan..... (hoping with FREE DINING) :goodvibes in September.

DH and I fly out to WDW on Wed. Sept. 12, stay four nights at All Star Movies, park hoppers, free dining...... $952.30

THEN....DH flies home on Sept. 16th, just in time to meet our girls who will be 17 and 10 (they will have no idea until the night before!) at the airport to hop on a plane to meet me to stay an additional four nights, at All Star Movies, park hoppers annd free dining: 1,232.00

We use Magical express and so no need for transporation and I can plane fare pretty cheap. So the trip will roughly run 2180.00 for 8 nights! And that gives dh and I alone time and then also a surprise for the girls!

The thing is....I want to pay with "extra" money....example, the 250 bonus dh gets every couple of mos, clipping coupons, doing the wal-mart price match on sales ads, selling on ebay and not eating out.

Any OTHER ideas that I can get to pay for this without dipping into our regular funds too much. We already planned on taking a 4 nighter, just me and dh, but the other 4 nights for the girls I threw up as an idea to dh and he wasn't very fond of it but I promised that he wouldn't see any money coming out of savings!!

So help....give me ideas please to make this happen!!!!

Thank you!

I guess from a logisitical sense I can't see much value in you going first, then sending your DD's for the second 4 days. Will they be too rushed to see the things you would like in 4 days.

I would budget a weekend getaway, separately, for you and DH maybe somewhere closer to home and then take all 4 of you to DIS. :flower3:

Good luck!

That sounds like a great plan. I have a change jar and DH is always leaving change around hte house, so I swoop in and pick it up, it adds up in no time. If I have a few extra dollars I drop them in as well. Have a yard sale in the early spring, that usually does the trick for me and gets rid of alot of unwanted clutter.

That is a good idea. Hmmmm i just might have to try that.

Everytime you go to buy anything ask yourself Can I get by with something less expensive, do I really need this put the savings in disney fund jar doesn't matter if it's a candy bar or something expensive every little bit helps.

When thinking of eating out think about how much money you can save by eating at home or eating Dennys rather than Outback.

Why not have the girls fly alone to save the airfare for your DH?

Oh! Maybe I worded it weird....but that is what we are doing. DH is flying back by himself and then the girls will be flying out to Florida the same day. Maybe I didn't make sense. :)

That is sooooo true, even like here at work I will just run across the street for a drink or a snack and that is a waste of money. I definitely am going to stop that kind of money wasting. :)

Everytime I can resist the urge to buy that Chai Tea with Soymilk and Whip cream (and then a cinnamon roll to go with it) I put $5 into my vacation fund.

Extra $1 bills I collect during the week go into the Magic Kingdom popcorn container.... change... anything I can sneak into it like the Christmas money I received.

CHANGE CHANGE AND MORE CHANGE!!!
we have a folgers coffee can(the big one) that we use. i taped a paper that me and my son decorated together around the can and any "found" money goes in there. my son loves looking for change that someone dropped outside a store and has a knack for finding quarters. he also has been given permission by my brother to search his couch cushions for any money and keep it. he even found a five dollar bill once! i think my bro put it there on purpose for him to find though. one time, adam came home with close to ten dollars in change alone!(my brother falls asleep on his couch fully clothed typical bachelor:rotfl:)

Also, I have taken a liking to selling stuff on craig's List. its mostly baby stuff my kids have grown out of and i can post an ad for free!

all our tax refunds goes into a savings fund. the past two years we bought LCD tvs for us with them, but this year, it will go towards our vacation. if i have any leftover cash from shopping, it goes into the jar as well.

we try to save by not eating out, not buying coffee out(so hard cuz nobody makes a chai like Dunkin) and we buy mostly generic stuff(recently switched to cheaper laundry detergent)and don't buy what we don't need as well(i know people who blow $$ as soon as they get it and can't pay their bills)
sorry this post was so long but saving is soemthing i am doing a lot right now. we aren't just saving for our trip but a bigger house since our 2 bedroom isnt cutting it for us anymore!
