Ok, DD13 wants to be Constance (Bride from HM) for the DLR ToT Party. Anyone seen any inexpensive bride costumes out there? We are going to get some black roses and we have some severed head props in our Halloween stuff so she can carry one of those around as well, I wanted to get her an axe but I don't know if she will be allowed to carry one. But, I need a decent wedding dress costume for her, all the ones I'm seeing are around $40 and I was hoping to spend about half that.....any thoughts? I don't have a sewing machine or I'd try to make her one myself......

I think you should scope out thrift stores for white/off white dresses and see what you can create from them. I was once a dead prom queen wearing a thrift store dress, dead flowers, scary makeup, etc. This time of year our local thrift stores start putting out Halloween costumes and dated clothing that could become a costume.

Have any salvation army stores near you>? or thrift shops? OR even some dry cleaners have left overs that they'll sell off cheap, some give them away.
By the way...an axe??? :confused3I think you may want to reconsider that portion of your costume for a disney event...never mind the "theme'ng" I am thinking disney would not allow entrance with it...
Good Luck, but seriously, please re-think the axe I think it is Overkill (no pun intended)

Well seriously, the axe would be fake. LOL I'm not having her carry a real axe around, not to mention we don't even own a full size axe, just a little one for cutting our firewood when we go camping. lol It would obviously be plastic and would not inflict harm on anyone! LOL And I did mention I wasn't sure she'd be able to carry it, because weapons are not allowed....
Salvation Army, no but we do have a Goodwill so we can swing by there. Thanks for the ideas so far. :)

I recently picked upa nice white prom dress that looks like a wedding gown for $12. My DD was thinking of going as a dead bride.

You could also try Craigslist. I know sometimes you can get lucky at a Thrift or even Consignment store especially if it's been there for a while.

GoodWill, ours has a whole wall of wedding dresses( some are scary all on their own)...remember to check to nightgown section too...some of the wedding dresses from way back looked like night gowns to me! I saw plastic "cleavers" at the Dollar Tree the other day, and if all else fails, use a white sheet and fabric remnants that are lacey, gauzy etc, just wrap her up and let the fabric drag, old lace table cloth...ther are a lot of things you can use if no luck finding a full dress. My DD piece-meals everything from goodwill...and last year one of her friends made his Jedi costume from a white sheet and a belt, he looked awesome!

Thanks for your ideas!! And thanks for the info on the cleaver, that would work! Woo Hoo!! :) I'm hoping to be like a PP, and perhaps find a white prom dress for super cheap....you know, I think I do have my old wedding dress from when I married her father...hmmmmmmmmmmm LOL

Also when you go to the stores or search craigslist ask for first communion dresses. They could easily be altered to be a scary bridesmaid dress. Check e-bay too if you have time before the event. Sometimes people list stuff for 99 cents with no reserve hoping to incite bids but the size or design is just off so no one bids.

I bought DD a dress on ebay last year for dressup/Halloween. She wanted to be a "wedding girl" that wears that white thing on her head. Technically, it was a flowergirl dress but it fit her and she loved it. Brand new dress w/ shipping was $13!!!

Try searching using wedding dress and her size.

We do have time, our ToT Party isn't until the 9th. Thank You, I didn't think of communion dresses. :) Good thought about the cheap listings too!

Thanks for search tip as well, I didn't think of using her size to search! LOL :)
