DH and I are taking a long hard look at our finances. We really want to build a new home next year and we need to crack down on some unneccessary spending. Do you have any recommendation on good websites and/or books that will help us? We also want to create habits that stick long after the new home!

It really frustrates me the income we make compared to what we save. DH and I are both compulsive buyers and we LOVE to travel so it's going to hard on us.

By the way that means NO Disney trip this year! How will I ever get through the year?? :earboy2:

I recommend the book The Wealthy Barber by David Chilton. Easy to read and informative.

(also, a great tip for savings is to have savings automatically deducted into another account, such as ING. )

GOOD LUCK! :cheer2:

I've tried that! Actually I use that to save for vacations.. Since I KNOW I am a horrible saver this is what I do already to help force me to save money.
-changed to 15 year mortgage-I was terrible putting extra income to house payment.
-Both DH and I both topped our 401K off with to max our companies would allow.

I am hoping my focus on improving our financial situation will help take my mind off scheduling another vacation! This time of year in Ohio it's really hard not to think about a vacation!
