Budget Trip? We don't need no stinkin' budget trip - PTR

Hi All!

Just wanted to post an update to our upcoming trip. Today is the day we have reached single digits for our countdown to our trip. We have but nine days left until our vacation, and we are getting extremly excited! The next big step will be to start packing, which I am not looking forward to. It isn't so much the "what to pack" delimia that I had last year, having never been further south than Maryland, but now it is the "how much to pack" question. Another question I'm starting to ask myself is if I want to pin trade on this trip, or possibly just buy a few that I like.

I think we're going to wait until after New Year's Day to get our luggage out of the storage unit in our apartment building, since the luggage is currently burried underneath a sea of boxes for our Christmas Tree, ornaments and other seasonal decorations that we are planning on taking down somewhere near the frist of the year. Well, I guess that about wraps up this installment of our pre-trip report. We haven't made any changes to our plans (yet), and we are getting very excited for the coming trip.

I think that it's adorable that your DF is jumping in on your trip report!!! I think it's cute when guys get all excited about the planning and details. ExBF and I were supposed to go in September (but we broke up at then end of August) and he was all into that kind of thing. Spreadsheets, menus, lists - you name it! It brings me to tears thinking about how all of the time and energy and effort we (*I*) put into planning went to waste! :sad1:

I hope you guys have a wonderful and safe trip. I'm sure as soon as you leave we'll be hit with the lake-effect!

Yay great plans! I would love to stay at AKL one day too. We had dinner at Boma during our last visit to the World and the resort was just amazing! I'd also love to do the KTTK tour, hopefully one day! Regarding if you can walk from Epcot to MGM, I've never tried it but I think you can boat it? Otherwise if no one else chimes in here a tip would be to have a look at Google Earth and see if you can find a path. We missed the Boardwalk 2 years in a row until I did this, and saw how close it actually was :upsidedow!

haha using Google Earth is a great idea! I have tried that before and always miss my target by a ton... yeah since I posted that I've read that we can boat or walk... never done it so not sure how it will go down but we can try it!

Awwww that sucks to hear about that :( You should have went on the trip anyways with a friend or something! I would be super sad at the time that went in, but more on not going! That's why I *had* to reschedule this one when I thought it might not work.

Hopefully *if* there is snow it hits after our plane takes off safely!

7 days til we leave!!! But that's only part of this update... the rest is that DF got the job he was waiting to hear on!!!!!!!!!! :cool1: :cool1:

I wanted to post that last night when we knew but the boards were down! That is about all I have to update on right now, we are leaving in a few to head to DF's parents to do our Christmas there. Then we need to look into getting DF a car so he can get to this new job... and all before we leave in a week. WHEW so much to do!

The good news will make our changing the trip around and the upgrade worth it tho!

Hello Again, Constant Reader(s?)!

DF and I have reached yet another milestone on our trip countdown. It is now about 48 hours until we take off from Cleveland to Orlando!!! I still don't think it has fully set in that we're almost ready to go on our trip. It hasn't for me, anyway. We spent New Year's Day packing up our Christmas stuff and while in the storage unit for our apartment, we got out our luggage. After we were done with the packing of the tree and holiday knick-knacks, we started to focus on trip packing. We both have the majority of our real packing done, and the only things that are left to be packed are our carry-on pieces. That should take practically no time at all, and we'll probably do that Friday after DF gets home from work. Oh, on the topic of work, the job for which I was in the application process contacted me, and I will be starting on January 14th, so it is a good thing we moved our trip up, because if we hadn't, we would have needed to cancel our trip that would have been starting February 2nd because the training for my job will be five weeks. Oh, I also bought a car on New Year's Eve. DF got home from work early, and we thought we'd try to get the car thing taken care of before we left for vacation, and that would probably be the last time we'd be able to. So we went to the Honda dealership (she has a Civic, and since moving up here I really enjoyed driving it, so we figured we'd check and see what I could get there), and I did end up getting a 2008 Honda Civic, much like DF's, only she has the EX and i have the LX. Her car is a 4-door, and mine is a 2-door. Oh, and she has a sunroof and controls for radio/cd on the steering wheel, where as I do not. Those are the only major differences between the two cars though. The only features my car doesn't have that I did want are the controls for the radio/cd player on the steering wheel and remote access to the trunk from the buttons on the car key. Not enough to make me want to spend who-knows-how-much more on an EX of my own. Also, I did like the color of the EX I saw on the lot a weeeeeeee bit more...it was a dark, almost midnighty blue. My car is silver, which I do like as well. Hmmm...I think thats about all of the new news I had to report, so I'll be going now. We will be back Saturday the 12th, and will probably start working on our trip report sometime shortly after that.

Take care, and have a great week...we know we will!!!

Well, DF pretty much said it all. It is now the day BEFORE we leave and I am so excited that it is making it difficult to get anything done at work. In about an hour I will be going on southwest's website to get our boarding passes... WOO!!! We are pretty much all packed... the only thing I have left is the cell phone charger and makeup (after I use it in the am). I can't think of anything else that I am missing (for now). Be back in about a week!

Hi all (or anyone)... we are back safely from our trip and will start writing our trip report soon! I am getting ready to download the pics I took as we speak... so I hope to detail all our fun soon!
