I am going to Colonial willaimsburg this year insted of Disneypirate:.( my dh and my 17 year old are sick of disney:confused::sick::crazy2:) any way..... we will need a budget friendly place to stay and places to eat.. Ill need all the good info on places to see and do..Keep in mind I have a 8 and 6 year old also.
We will be doing Bush Gardens to..I have no idea about that place ( Im so heart broken about not going to Disney, so Im trying not to be a party pooper)

I went to Colonial and BG last summer and had a ball!!!:cool1::cool1::cool1: Make sure that you get the seven day passes from buschgardens.com.:surfweb: They are around 100 each but you get to go to BG and their water park unlimited and all of the historical Colonial areas. I was a very educational and fun trip..... We stayed in a time share so I really don't know any cheap hotels and we also was able to cook in the evenings to save money. I love Disney also but we did have a good time in Williamsburg!!! Have fun!!!

On the busch gardens website, there was a great deal-a seven day pass to CW,Water Country and BG for a reasonable sum. we got that and used it all the time; it came with free parking. you may wish to book a condo (there are a lot of them in the Williamsburg area, very reasonably-priced) and just self-cater your meals; otherwise, there are a lot of family-friendly restaurants in that area. We had a fabulous time there.

Hello! I actually live in Williamsburg and have done just about everything there is to do in this area. If you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them!

What time of year will you be here? If it's between May and Labor Day weekend, definitely look into getting Busch Gardens/Water Country/Colonial Williamsburg combo passes. Don't forget that Jamestown and Yorktown are here, too, so you'll probably want to make time for those.

There are plenty of chain restaurants in town that are fairly reasonable - all the normal fast food, Applebee's, Chili's, Ruby Tuesday, IHOP, etc. There are also some local places that are excellent and won't cost you an arm and a leg. There are several pizza/Italian restaurants called Sal's (or some variation of that) that are really good. There are also a few places in in the Colonial area that are worth checking out (Blue Talon Bistro, Aroma's and The Cheese Shop). Google "Williamsburg Area Restaurants," and the first link is a dining guide you may find useful.

As for places to stay, that depends on what you are looking for. There are plenty of hotels and motels - there's a Sleep Inn that I've actually had to stay at before, and it was nice.

In reply to someone else's question, Washington D.C. is about 2.5 hours away.

We stayed at the Super 8 Historic this past summer and it was nice. It was very clean, the pool was nice, and it was only a few minutes from everywhere we wanted to be. We loved BG!

Hi i'm planning to go to Busch Gardens as well this summer - but we'll be just "stopping" in on our way back from the Outerbanks.going back to NYC. I figure this is about the 1/2 way mark. Is 1 day enough at Busch Gardens or 2 days? can we get somekind of two day ticket? Can you recommend some motel type places to stay near BG? Thanks sorry to hop on your thread...

Thats what I would like to know

I am from Williamsburg area and my family stillis there. My sister is the manager at the IHOP in Williamsburg. When we go home we stay at Powhatan Plantation. It is time share condoslike you can rent off site in Orlando. They always have some kind of specials. The 2 bedroom downstairs unit has a 4 person hot tub in the unit. Makes for a great indoor pool for the kids.

My family is also going to Williamsburg on vacation this summer. I booked the Best Western Historic Area on Orbitz for $40 a night. I looked it up on Trip Advisor, and it doesn't look bad at all. From what I can see, it is within walking distance to many restaurants and stores.

I also looked up the Busch Gardens bounce pass. It's a 7 consecutive day pass with unlimited admission to BG, Water Country, and Colonial Williamsburg. It includes parking. Adults are $98 for the pass, and kids (17 and under!!!!) are $80-something. I check out how much just a one day pass to BG was, and it is $60-something per person, ages 9 and up! Just for one day! And parking is $12 a day at BG and WC. I was really quite shocked that this bounce pass considers a child to be 17 and under! Wow!!

We are really excited for this trip....I think it's going to be a lot of fun!

You will love Busch Gardens and Water Country. BG has fantastic rides and 5 roller coasters. There are plenty of rides for all your kids' ages. It is a beautiful park and has been voted Most Beautiful Theme Park for something like 12 years in a row. Enjoy your trip.

Yeah, I did. But the cancellation policy is full refund until three days prior to travel. We'll know by then if it won't work out. Plus, it was only $180 and change for four nights...not a huge amount.

I'm always a fan of Priceline for rooms.

Kings Dominion is another amusement park that is about an hour away. It has more roller coasters.

DC is about two hours.

There's a great wolf lodge in Williamsburg.

If you are going to DC...New York is only 3 more hours!!!!!

I've done Kings Dominion a few years ago...

Can Busch Gardens be done in 1 day????

what does the water park have? is it overly crowded?

I'm planning on going July 7th - 9th

I think one day is sufficient for BG, particularly if you aren't going on the super-roller coasters. BG has some very nice shows. WC was very impressive-so clean and family-oriented, with lots of shade. We enjoyed CW the best of the three sites, so you will have plenty to do!
