never rented a car before.... so this is new for me...

Found a good rate on a car .... reserved it... didn't mention on the site about a hold but I know some places hold $200... the rate is $122... What would I expect to be held on my card? It is a credit card and not a debit card....
 
I don't believe any rental I have booked through MCO has done a hold...could be mistaken. I have used Budget and nothing stands out. If this is a concern, call them directly. Policies can change all the time.

I tend to watch rates on carrentalsavers dot com, and as prices change all the time, I am constantly booking/cancelling/rebooking. I have never been charged...no credit card is charged until you actually pick up the car, then I am charged the amount of my reservation.

Thank you! That's where we booked ours. The first reservation was awful. It was thru ez car rentals and they were sooooo rude when we called for questions:(. Needless to say we cancelled that res lol
 
We haved used Budget at MCO and they put a hold on our credit card for either $200.00 or $250.00.

Credit and Debit Card Rules

Generally, at the time of a U.S. corporate-operated location rental, we'll require a credit card hold of total estimated rental charges plus 25% or $200, whichever is greater. If you're using a debit card at a location that accepts them, upon paying your rental with a Debit Card, Budget will generally request an authorization hold against your account for the estimated charges of the rental but reserves the right in its sole discretion, to request extra value based on certain factors as we deem appropriate. Some exceptions may apply. THESE FUNDS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR YOUR USE. However, for insurance/service replacement rentals, tour and budget.com prepaid rentals, the minimum debit card authorization hold is $100. At select locations in the Northeast and North Central regions, the minimum authorization hold is $500. Renters under 25 years of age may not use a debit card. Look at the terms and conditions on your reservation confirmations for the deposit required at your specific rental location. Some select locations do not accept debit cards at time of rental to release the vehicle, but do accept debit cards for payment at time of car return. Locations that do accept debit cards at time of rental will perform a credit check to determine and ensure credit worthiness before releasing the car to you. Search for your location to find deposit rules for your location. After you find your location, just click the 'additional information' link next to your desired location to view location terms and conditions.

It's perfectly fine if you choose not to return the car on or before your scheduled return date, but on or before that date you must contact a Budget reservation agent at 800-527-7000, and that agent will be happy to accommodate your request, if possible. In this case, we will assess a $10 service fee for the extended rental, and place up to three additional holds on your card (depending on how long you keep the car) to cover expected rental charges. Upon your return of the car, all holds will be released, and the actual cost of the rental will be charged. Please note that, if you choose to extend your rental, your original rental rate may no longer be available. Also note that your bank may take up to two weeks to post the released credit hold to your card. Unfortunately, we cannot be held responsible for any returned checks due to debit card hold processing.

Canadian rentals at corporate-operated locations require a credit card hold of $300 CAD for the first day, and $75 CAD for each additional day. Other countries and licensee-owned locations may vary. It’s always best to check the terms and conditions on your online reservation confirmation or on the location information page to see which rules apply for your selected location. Then, if you still have questions, please contact us. To receive your quoted rate, some airport locations also might require you to present your airline ticket or boarding pass when you pick up your car. Total Estimated Hold Rules:
Before you drive away in your shiny Budget rental car, we'll need to put a hold on your credit card (or debit card at some locations) for the total estimated rental charges. (Sorry, but a prepaid card is not an acceptable method of credit identification for this hold.) While the hold is in place, the funds will not be available for your use. Once you return the vehicle, we will process a release of the unused portion of the hold subject to your bank's procedures. The hold could take up to 2 weeks to be released by your bank.
• If you want to use a credit card for the hold, that amount will be the total estimated rental charges or $200, whichever is greater.
• If you want to use a debit card for the hold, these policies will apply. If your rental location has exceptions to the following debit card rules — such as not accepting debit cards — those exceptions will appear in the Other section;
— All debit rules in the "Required Credentials" section above;
— Upon paying your rental with a Debit Card, Budget will generally request an authorization hold against your account for the estimated charges of the rental but reserves the right in its sole discretion, to request extra value based on certain factors as we deem appropriate. Some exceptions may apply. THESE FUNDS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR YOUR USE.
• When the rental is over we will process the reversal but the bank may take time to post it back to the account - unless you already paid toward your rental, in which case the hold will be only $100 USD. While this hold is in place, the funds will not be available for your use.

— You will be subject to a credit check to determine creditworthiness and the rental may be denied based on the results of this check;
— If you don't return the vehicle as agreed, we will obtain additional debit hold authorizations from your account to cover the rental charges;
— We are not responsible for any returned checks or over-drafts due to our debit hold policy.
• A debit, cash, check card or prepaid card can be used for payment of rental charges upon car return.
• Your total rental rate is calculated based on the information provided at time of reservation. The rate is based on the exact parameters (location, dates, etc.) of your particular rental — so changing any of your confirmed reservation parameters could result in a different rates, taxes and fees.
• Except for a surcharge for renters under 25 years of age at some locations, your total rental rate is calculated based on the information provided at time of reservation. • Quoted taxes and fees are subject to change which will affect your final total due at rental return.
• Vehicles are rented on a daily (24-hour) basis. There is a 29-minute grace period for returns. After 30 minutes late, a 3/4-day late charge + $.01 + taxes apply. After 90 minutes late, full-day late charges + taxes apply.
• If your plans change and you no longer require the rental, you must cancel this reservation before the scheduled pick-up time or you will be charged a $75 U.S. fee ($50 U.S. for a budget.com paid rental).
• The U.S. Government imposes a $5/day Admin Rate Supplement (GARS/GA) for U.S. Government rentals.
• If you selected an Optional Product (coverages, GPS, child safety seat, Roadside SafetyNet, XM Radio, etc.) with your rental:
— Prohibited use of your rental vehicle will void the Roadside SafetyNet Option;
— The Fuel Service Option price is not included in your reservation total. The prevailing market rate for fuel plus associated tax and fees will be charged when you return your car;
— You are responsible for replacement costs if the Optional Product or its components are lost, stolen or damaged;
— Products are charged on a daily (24-hour) basis. There is no grace period for returns, so full-day late charges will apply.
