Budget prom dress site?

Just thought of this...

Find a friend and borrow a dress from a year ago. That would be your best, cheapest option.

I just saw fishinthesky.com for another person that is getting married. They have all kinds of formal wear! Great prices as well.

This is another company based in China (like Tidebuy.com) that makes the dress for you after you order it. They also have mixed reviews. We had good luck ordering from China and saved a bunch of money, but I'd definitely have a back-up dress just in case.

My friend bought her wedding dress from lightinthebox.com it is from China, but her dress was beautiful, and she highly recommends them. They have a great selection of knock off prom dresses and nice shoes. :thumbsup2

Last year DD got hers at Dillards, it was about $120. This year we got lucky and spotted one on clearance on Amazon for $36. I took a gamble and ordered it and it turned out to be perfect, fits right and she loves it.

Shorter dresses seem to be more popular here, but DD prefers long gowns so that's what we buy for her, they were definitely harder to find in our area, though.

Wow this is an old thread. It's not even prom season yet, is it? Homecoming right?

Are there any legit sites out there with reasonably priced prom dresses? Dd is going for the first time and the ones she likes are SO expensive!! She wouldn't mind used, but we haven't seen any she liked that were being sold much cheaper than new.

Thanks!

I purchase formal dresses for Mardi Gras Balls every year. I have had good luck with:

ideeli.com

Cybernetplaza.com

gojane.com

Ideeli you have to watch the shipping dates. Sometimes it takes them a while to ship to you but the others are pretty quick.;)

maybe you can have bridesire to look for a prom dress this time.
You can check their collections on: Bridesire.com

I got also mine from them, and also my friends. We are expecting to arrive it this weekend..:)

We have a local Facebook yard sale site where people post all sorts of things they are selling. Currently there are a TON of prom dresses on there. Our yard sale site has thousands of members though. I'm sure they are not all that busy.

Just go to FB, type in the name of your town/city then the words "yard sale". It should pop right up.

Pageantresale.com

This site allows you to sort dresses by price. Yes, some are very glitzy pageant dresses, but a lot are prom dresses used for appearances. I actually bought a dark plum suit off this site for $35, and I use it for job fairs and interviews.

Whatever you do, do NOT order from tbdress.com
The prices seem low for the quality of the dresses in the pictures. I ordered one and it never came, and another girl I know said hers came in terrible condition. Avoid at all costs!

Also a :thumbsup2 for the pageantresale.com - Love it!

Some of the prettiest dresses we have found is shopping at the Bridal stores. A lot of them know that teens will come in looking, and set up an area. But, even if not we have had luck at David's Bridal just by shopping their bridesmaid dresses and found beautiful ones there. A lot were on sale too!

Not prom, but I just got my dd13 a very cute 8th grade dance dress from Deb's for $65, and they had quite a few dresses.

My daughter is going to the junior Prom this year. We didn't want to spend a ton and checked all the department stores We got a very nice long gown at Deb's for $82. My daughter is a size 0/1 but the smallest they have is a 3 so I found a seamstress to adjust the one shoulder strap and cut about 8 inches off the bottom! That will be $33. So I am happy with the total. I also saw the same exact dress at Macy's for $89!
