Budget Parking in NYC

We drove in a few years back and it was $12 for the entire day about 3 blocks from Macys. We walked most of the city and then took a subway back to Macys for the walk back to the car. New York is actually one of the cheaper cities to park on the weekends, we paid $31 for 2 hours in Chicago on a Sunday.

I would not drive to NJ either, that's going completely out of your way and you will probably get stuck in a ton of traffic. I would just park in the city. $30-40 a day is still cheaper than taking the train from RI. Have fun!

we have paid anywhere from $27a day to $50 in the upper westside area.

We would like to do the train so thanks, pp, for the info on that. I believe I'll plan a weekend getaway for the spring. :)

A word of caution on parking in New Haven. Usually you will have to park across the street in the garage because the lot is full....a lot of fun with luggage:eek:AND
parking will run you about $15.00/24 hours. We have NEVER had an issue driving 95S on a weekend between New Haven and Westport.
Free parking and kids under 14 are $1.00 roundtrip, can't be beat.
