I've currently got a very good price on a Budget rental through UCT for the first week of November. After reading some of the reviews here which seem to indicate Budget can be either good, or really bad, I'm wondering if I should switch to Avis. I can get a rental from Avis for just a few more dollars.

Is Avis having the same kind of issues as Budget?

Anybody have recent experience with either at MCO?

Thanks...

There is a thread about being able to link UCT reservations to your account and skip the line for AVIS rentals. I can verify that Budget reservations cannot be linked to your FastBreak account and you will wait in a long line at MCO if you go with Budget. For a few dollars more, I switched to booking AVIS with UCT and then calling to have the reservation linked with my wizard number. Upon arrival, the app notifies of my exact car and parking location. So easy and way better than standing around for an hour or more at Budget.

Thanks, I didn't realize Avis allowed you to add your wizard number even if you book through a 3rd party. It's funny, since they are both owned by the same company that one allows it and the other doesn't. I'm going to switch over to Avis and hope for the best.

I called earlier today and the rep I spoke to stated the system would not allow him to add my wizard number to the reservation. I called back a bit later and the second agent added it in about 10 seconds. He also confirmed I can go directly to the garage kiosk to pick up my car.

Moral of the story: Don't give up after the first try.

My only issue with Avis is they are blatantly stealing from their customers.

I last rented a 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander. At pickup it claims to have had 16.3 gallons of gas. I bought gas 1.3 miles from turn in. I made sure to keep squeezing in gas until it poured out onto the ground. At turn in I was told it only had 14.5 gallons and was charged $18.72 for the difference.

According to Mitsubishi the Outlander has a fuel tank capacity of 14.5 gallons.

I would call and file a complaint and ask for a refund. Be insistent and if necessary engage your credit card company. Budget tried to do something similar with tolls, but I proved I had paid another way and they credited my card.

Wrong choice of words to your thread

Anyway Did you show them your receipt from the Gas Station ? AND point out to them which Gas Station

Did you verify the level of the gas gauge with check in person ?

There is no longer anyone to show in person. The check in is done minutes or hours after you drop off the car.

This was the second rental with Avis at MCO where I was charged for gas.

This is the gas station I use when returning at MCO.

This is a known issue with the digital sensors that Avis and a couple other companies are using. It will fluctuate wildly throughout the day. I've seen reports of it changing by as much as 4 gallons while the renter was on a plane and hadn't even picked up the vehicle yet.

It's kind of funny, but in all the years I have been driving in and out of MCO, I don't think I have ever noticed that Shell station. I'll definitely use that on my next trip.
