Hi everyone:

so, DD's national dance competition will be in Orlando over July 4th. We will be there June 30-July 7. DD will be either competing or doing workshops July 2-6.

I managed to use my points to snag a hotel between universal and WDW for that time and we will rent a car. Just wondering what are some things we can do either just DH and I or as a family that is not the parks?

whenever we have gone before we stayed onsite at either Universal or WDW. Never really explored other parts of the greater Orlando area but would be more than willing this time.

Cocoa Beach is not too far away (if you want to hit the beach). You can park at Lori Wilson Park for free. There are some other places to park there for like $5 - $10 for the day.

Visit downtown Winter Park. Some cure shops and restuarants. They have a cute boat tour - google to find more information about both.

There are some local smaller museams (one or two in Winter Park and a few in Downtown), there is a Science Center, an Air Museam out towards Lakeland).

There are the 'tourist trap' attractions on I-drive and off 192.

Then there are the typical other things you can do in any city for less money then the theme parks (bowling, movies, etc).
