Budget-minded moving? PODS? Movers? U-Haul?

We used one large container. Our house was 2600 square feet, 4 bedrooms, dining room set, we only took one living room set and several home office desks/computer set ups.

Did you take beds? Sounds like we might be able to get by with one, that would save a bundle!

We did. We had our master suite with queen, 2 dressers, nightstands etc. Then we had three twin size beds. We did not however have dressers for the other beds, our girls have always preferred hanging all their clothes to dressers. But each child (2) had desks and vanity's.

We are getting rid of a lot of stuff (giving a lot of it to the 2 older kids for their apartment). I think we will tell them we just need 1 and go from there! Thanks so much, very helpful! I'm considering getting it soon and using it as storage for the next few months so we can stage our house a little better to sell. Its hard to imagine we really are going to do this!

I also recommend ABF U-Pack. My parents used them first, then we used them to move from AZ to CO. And we're going to use them in Oct to move some stuff from my parent's house to CO. I like the convenience of having someone else do the driving, but it is much cheaper than a traditional moving company.

We loved ABF. We used them recently and my parents used them internationally and had a great experience. Just remember pack all the way to the ceiling to get the best bang for your buck. We rented moving blankets from U-Haul to protect our furniture.

Also you only pay for the feet that you use. So if you end up getting rid of more than you expected, you won't have to pay for the whole truck.

Sounds like a good way to move! I'm going to call them to make sure, but on the internet they say they won't do in-state moves.
