Budget in Port Canaveral

How far away is the Budget Rental car place from the Raddison at Port Canaveral? Could I walk back after dropping off the car? And do they have a shuttle to the DCL? I'm thinking of cancelling my towncar ressie for my wife & I to save a few bucks. Renting around $38 a day (x2 days=$76) is better than around $170. Thnks in advance!

You could walk to the Raddison, but why? You could drop family/luggage off at port, then return rental & come back to terminal on shuttle. Just make sure you have a photo-id to get into terminal...

You can easily walk from Budget to the Radisson. Last fall, we flew in a day early and drove from MCO to Cape Canaveral. We used the car a little that afternoon and then checked into the Radisson. After we unloaded our luggage, DH returned the car to Budget and walked back - I think he was away from about 30 minutes total. The next morning, we used the Radisson's shuttle to the port. By having the car less than one day, we saved money - it just wouldn't have been worthwhile to keep it the extra "day" just to drive it to the port in the morning.

Budget is within walking distance from the Radisson, but there are no sidewalks and route A1A (the main drag) is quite busy.

My story - we rented from Budget at the airport and used the van to get around that day (Saturday before our Sunday Cruise). If you do not have a vehicle, there is really nothing to do except stay at the resort. Renting a vehicle you could go to Kennedy Space Center, shop or go out to dinner. We felt stuck when we stayed at the Radisson and did NOT have a car.

Any - we booked the Radisson Shuttle to go to the port on Sunday. We dropped the van off at Budget and they brought us back to the Radisson. This worked out well. Since we were going to WDW after the cruise, we had a town car pick us up when we got back to port, on thursday am.

This year we plan on having Budget bring us to the port. The Radisson is already booked and we have to stay somewhere else.

Budget is about very near the Radisson.

We just used them and it was excellent. Let me make a suggestion to you.

Take your wife/kids to the port in the rental car, drop them, and you take the car back to budget and hop budgets shuttle over to the port. Very quick, very easy. Don't take your entire party to budget.

Well, it's just me and my wife. So if Budget has a shuttle then we'll just return the vehicle together and take their shuttle to the DCL. For some reason the rates I found were cheaper if we rented the car on Fri and dropped it off on Sat instead of having just the one day. I know the wife just wants to relax, but I'd like to option of going out & about. I'd love to go to KSC again, but she was bored and with security like it is you can't get too close to the launch area. Anyways, this will save me the walk across the road to come back to the Raddison for their shuttle. I imagine when the cruise returns, they'll have a shuttle back to the Budget place to pick up a car again. Thanks for all of your help & suggestions!
