Looking for a hotel next month that is clean and in the budget category ($100-120/night range). 15-20 min max walk to the parks would be optimal. A few options I am looking at: Alamo Inn, Eden Roc, Hotel Lulu, Clarion, Extended stay, Motel 6 to name a few. Just me and my teen age son so we will be spending minimal time at the hotel. Any thoughts?? Thanks for the help!

Motel 6 gets good reviews here. Clarion gets very mixed reviews. Hotel LuLu (used to be Red Lion) has been getting good reviews here.

I've stayed at Motel 6 multiple times and I would stay there again. The walk is about 20 minutes to the Disneyland security check on Harbour Boulevard. I only did the walk on a non park day, as I do open to close and walk about 14 miles in a park day and the walk back at then end of a park day is too much for me. I used ART which stops at the next door property Clementine.

My tip for staying at Motel 6 is to special request a room in the main building. The main building has an elevator, but the second building does not. The rooms are huge and clean. There is a small convenience store in the lobby which mainly sells souvenirs. It has very odd opening hours. There are also vending machines in the lobby and coffee is available until 10.30am.

The only reason I didn't book it for my next trip is because I want to stay closer to the Disneyland security check on Harbour Boulevard and not have to use ART.

We stayed at the Kings Inn two years ago and are staying there again in November since I was able to reserve for under $90 a night (plus taxes). The rooms were clean, beds were comfortable, we were at the back so away from any noise from the road. I'm a little disappointed they eliminated breakfast -- it wasn't a huge breakfast offering, but it was nice to be able to get a cup of coffee/tea and make a fresh waffle. Last time we did about a 50/50 mix of walking and Lyft.

Motel 6 Maingate is probably going to be in that price range. We've stayed there many times. It's not fancy but it is perfect for sleeping and showering!

I stayed at Eden Roc a few years ago and, welllllll... it had been remodeled and was clean enough for a budget hotel. But, I cannot vouch for whether they've kept it clean and nice since. My main complaint is that it was LOUD. Thin walls meant I could every single person standing or walking outside the room all night long. (All the rooms face outside, instead of being an indoor hotel.) Unluckily, our room was also by the stairs and apparently people loved hanging out on those stairs all night smoking and chatting and I'm a light sleeper so, not my best night.

Thanks for posting about your experience. We booked at Kings Inn for our early December trip, as it was the only reasonably priced (IMO) hotel/motel within walking distance that had good ratings everywhere I looked. Even if we rideshare a couple times a day, we'll still be saving a ton of money.

My review was that it was a disgusting dirty dump that we told out client who put us up there for a convention meeting to book us somewhere else or find a new vendor the following year...it was that bad.
Your review lines up with what friends have told me. But there are those on this board who really like the Clarion and stay there by choice. Different strokes...

We stayed at Lulu and Eden Roc. I would give eden Roc another stay. We didn’t have the best stay at Lulu. We have recently looked into the motel 6 off Disneyland drive. I would highly recommend reading the most current reviews on trip advisor and Yelp. Lots of reviews mentioned how dirty the rooms are and mentioned things being stolen out of their rooms. Yikes!

my husband is staying at the kings inn in a couple weeks. He got an amazing deal through gov x. I also found a very similar deal on life mart (discount place through my work). Kings inn has really good reviews. We are hoping he likes it! We also recently stayed at the Alpine Inn and loved that as well.

have a great trip!

We’ve stayed at the Anaheim Majestic several times, including the night before reopening. It’s really lovely, with a deli, cafe, small pool, rose garden and beautiful grounds. It used to be a Sheraton, worn and tired, but when it was sold, they seem to have revamped everything. It’s reasonably priced, AAA discount, a great shuttle every 1/2 hr for the 8-10 min direct ride or 15-20 min walk. They were really happy to be reopened. We like the castle themed rooms around the courtyards. Quiet. You can see fireworks from the parking lot, too.

When I stayed there the resort fees were like 30$ a day idk if they still do that but it added up. Love that hotel tho

I've stayed at the Park Vue Inn and the Best Western Park Place Inn. They were both super convenient to the park as they are directly across the street from the entrance plaza. Both had free breakfast (also Ihop right there and McD's and Panera about a 3 minute walk) and basic motel rooms with fridge/microwave, and basic amenities.
Last trip I actually just stayed down the road at a Hampton. Slightly less expensive for the room but I had to pay for transportation, but defiantly a nicer look and more of a mid range hotel vibe.

I'd go back to any of them, but they were all closer to $200.

Thanks for all of your advice!! I just found a deal on getaway today for the Holiday Inn and Suites Anaheim for just over $100 a night. I’ve never stayed on that NW side of the parks. Has anyone stayed there? How is the walk?

How is the walk?
It’s about 25 mins and there’s nothing much there besides a couple of hotels. Personally I’d never stay on that side of the park no matter how cheap it is. You have several recommendations that may get close to your budget so I’d choose one of them. Kings Inn would be my recommendation but if the Hotel Lulu is now a Best Western that could be fine these days. Also check the Hilton, sometimes that have extraordinarily low rates.

Just curious why you wouldn’t stay on that side of the park? Google maps puts the walk at about 20 min.

Because there is nothing else there besides the hotels, it’s a residential area with very few dining options so not very convenient. I don’t know anyone who has stayed there because it’s cheap and not regretted it.

Also check out hotel 414. A longer walk, but immaculate and really nicely renovated. Rated #2 on trip advisor. Also amazing customer service. ☺️

Just stayed at Hotel Lulu for 4 nights earlier this week. It was ok, nothing spectacular, but fine for what we were looking for. Walk to the park was manageablen(10-15min), and even though it was loud, AC worked well. Borderline hotel (felt closer to being a motel) - no housekeeping, water pressure low in shower (hard to control water temp - either really hot or cold), some areas had cosmetic upgrades but overall felt old and run down. Lobby and outside of lobby was nice. I did appreciate that you had to use your hotel key to get into South Tower from the courtyard. I didnt have some of the same issues as other reports of people have had with keys not working, or issues closing room door. Overall it served its purpose but I would probably look at other options before I would consider booking there again.
