Budget hotel near Universal

I thinking of taking a quick, budget trip to Universal this weekend. Anyone know of a clean, budget friendly hotel for a mom and 3 kids near Universal?

I also need the same info for a trip in June, I always like to plan an extra day on the way down in case of car trouble. So we are planning to arrive on the 14th of June but don't check into RPR until the 15th. So just need a cheap clean place near the parks.

There's a Holiday Inn (Universal) and DoubleTree Hotel behind the Portofino Bay Hotel. Not even a 10 minute walk to the Portofino.

I stayed at the Sheraton Studio City (.5 miles) from US/IOA and it was very nice. I got it on Hotwire for $52/night.

We will be staying here 4/21 to 4/26. I had posted a while ago looking for anyone who had stayed there, but didn't get much of a response. I'm glad that you thought that it was a nice hotel.. We are planning on renting a car, did you? Do you think it's needed? Any other thoughts on the hotel itself?

Darcy, did you book the Four Points directly on Hotwire, or did you do the "name your price" thing? There is only one Universal area hotel on Hotwire, and it's listed for $52. Can you tell if that's the Sheraton Four Points? It's $72. everywhere else. Thanks for your help!

I just booked it on Hotwire (that's where I book all my hotels). I limited my search to the Universal Area and never pick less than a 3* (and I've never been disappointed with my hotel). I choose the $52 one and thats what I got.
