Can anyone recommend a decent, lower priced hotel for our 1st night in O-town for 5/16, as we will be getting in very late-then we will be checking into HRH on the 17th. Any help would be great Thanks

Don't know if this classifies as budget for you but we got back tonight from WDW. Decided to go down a night early (Sunday) YC was booked solid. We stayed at the Doubletree Castle Hotel on I Drive for $149 a night, I know, not exactly budget but half of our AP rate at the Yacht Club. The hotel is not super easy to find (hidden entrance even with the I drive address), but clean and had comfy towels and beds. It's pretty close to US/IOA too, right off Universal Blvd and Sand Lake. We may concider it again for our June US/IOA trip arrival night.

I personally would not stay at the Holiday Inn unless they totally redid all the rooms. Stayed there before and the room was NASTY. Have you tried travelzoo.com they have the Doubletree castle another poster was talking about for 89/night or they have the comfort inn universal for 69/night.

thanks for the help. Think I am going to book the comfort inn for $39.00. seems clean

the holiday inn I have refered to is south of sandlake and the hotel is only 6 years old. And just behind it is a goodings grocery store. I know there is also a holiday inn closer to universal and I wondered if that one is to the one you are refering. Just wondering because when we stayed at the holiday I am talking about the rooms were clean and neat.

I was referring to the Holiday Inn on Kirkman Rd. Would NEVER stay there again.

The Orlando Grand Suites (I think that is what it is called) DO NOT STAY THERE! WE booked that online because we got there on a Sunday really late. It was DISGUISTING!! I had to go out and buy Clorox spray to spray the room. We slept there and checked out at 7am the next day. YUCK GROSS!!!
