What do you have? Where did you get it? How much was it?

I'm looking for a new one. I have just a cheapo one from Target and would like to upgrade. I would really like a CHI but don't really want to spend $100 on it:scared1:

Thanks!

If you know anyone with a CHI, ask to try theirs. I had a budget Conair one that didn't do anything for my hair. It never straightened it all the way and my hair was curly again just a few hours later. DH bought me a CHI about a year ago and IMHO it is worth every penny. I love it! My hair will actually straighten and stay that way until I wash it again. I choked over the price at first too. But I am really glad he bought me one now:thumbsup2

I got one on ebay last year, i dont remeber what its called, it the rip off chi, and I think they are from Thailand the had tons of them in all different colors. it was 25 and I LOVED it till ds decided to kill a spider with and cracked it, it dint last too much longer after that, lol, but it got REALLY HOT! right now I have a $39 andis from walmart and it works really good for my needs. The chi that I used to have only lasted a year before the switch shorted out!! my stylist said that is very common for chi and she would never spend that much on one.

heres the link, i found it!

Be careful if you order a chi off amazon. I did for DD 2 yrs ago and it quit working after 2 months. At the time, I didn't know they have sensitive cords so it may have been our fault since she curled it up to put in a drawer.

Anyway, when it broke, I went back to amazon. Since it was sold from a third party, I didn't realize terms were different. I don't remember exactly how it was worded, either by Amazon or the 3rd co, but regular chi warranties don't apply to purchases from there. I did email the 3rd party co, they told me if I could return it in the original box and pay another $15+shipping & they would exchange it.

I decided not to throw more $ on the possibility of no iron since we didn't have the original box. She now has a Remington - $40 + BBB coupon that has worked great. She has super thick, long hair to her bra strap and it works fabulously.

Marshalls and Ross have been carrying the Cortex brand flat iron for 30. It's the same one they sell at the mall kiosks for 100.00 or more. I like mine. You can go to the mall and try it out first. My aunts CHI just died and she replaced it with one and said she's happy with it, especially considering the price difference.

I bought a Croc this summer and I love it. It was around $120, and I thought it was probably too much. BUT it went out in November and I took it back to the salon (no box or reciept) that I bought it at and they gave me a brand new one, no questions. If you figure on spending around $40 - $50 at Target, and it goes out after a few months, you probably won't be able to return it that easily. Plus the Croc is soooooo much better than the Revlon I had from Target.

I second this. I bought a Cortex from Marshall's on clearance for $24 and it works so so so much better than my cheapy Conair one. Marshall's has a lot of good hair straighteners for at least 1/2 the original price or more.

My hairdresser suggested an Andis she says its the best on the market next to a good Chi and they only cost $15 at walmart. Have had mine for years and still works great!

I love the Wet2Straight from Target/Walmart. Runs about $25 and straightens my super curly hair. You can use it on wet hair and turn the blower and it dries as it straightens. However, I find it to be faster and more effective to just blow dry my hair, then use the straightener on dry hair.

I highly recommend the CHI. I know the price tag is a bit steep, but I have had mine for 5 years now and it still works great. I was buying inexpensive ones before that and had to replace them every 6 months or so. So, to me the hig price tag has been worth it.
