Hi, Does anyone have a suggestion for a budget Hair Accessory Organizer that allows you to see all your hair barrettes, pony holders and clips? I have 2 DD's and their collection is growing by the day!!!!! Right now I have them in bags and bins, but I want something where I don't have to "dig" through. Half of the items never seem to get used because they are all mixed together and hidden. I found this adorable organizer online, where you can see it all, but it's $55! It had places to attach all the accessories right on the organizer.

What do you all use?

Thanks!

Go to a craft store and look for a wooden cut out...like a flowe or star or heart. Get some craft paint and paint it...or you can probably find one already painted. Unpainted ones are $1 or less. Painted ones can be $2 or $3. Then, go to the ribbon dept. Get some GROSGRAIN ribbon that is fairly wide. Use a hot glue gun to HEAVILY glue the ribbon to the back of the wooden piece. Mount the wooden piece ot the wall and attach the hair accessories along the ribbon. ( You can look for a wooden piece that has a wall hanger on teh back, as well).

Or...get a hanger and tie several ribbons along the hanger. Attach the accessories to that ribbon ,,,you can have several ribbons on the hanger,,,and hang it in the closet

The best thing is a clear over-the-door shoe organizer. It has like 20 clear pockets to sort things out. They are the best!

do you have a link for the $55 one so I can get an idea of what it looks like?
I put DD's in one of those partioned containers you store baby formula in. Unfortunately its getting very full!

Get a bead container they run about 5 to 15 all difference size holding spots and come in clear so you can easily look at the lid and see the ones you are after. Also they tend to have separates that can either be pulled out or put in to make the storage spots bigger or smaller.

I bought several tackle boxes in the sports section at Walmart. They work great and only were about $4. I buy the flat ones that are sectioned off into compartments. They are great for snap clips and pony tail holders. If you have lots of big bows, you may want to hang them on a ribbon as the PP suggested.:thumbsup2

I bought my daughter one of those smallish 3 drawer plastic thingys -- they're about 8" x 12" and maybe 10" high. She keeps hairbands in one drawer, barrettes and clips in another, and colorful pony-os in the third.

You can get these things for less than $10 and they come in colors (pink, white, etc)

I bought a 3 drawer storage thing at Target. Each drawer is 12x12 and about 2 inches deep. We put ponytail holders and such in one drawer, headbands in another, and scrunchies and bows in the bottom drawer. It sits on the counter in their bathroom and keeps the mess minimal.... when I can convince them to actually put stuff away! :-)

Right now I have a zip lock bag system. I have a deep drawer dedicated to nothing but hair accessories. Most of the time the baggies work. I have a style/type allocated to each baggie. Every now and then I have to go through and clean out the drawer because I hurriedly didn't put things in their place. No one sees the drawer but us and I need a way to organize and contain.

I admit, I have gone overboard with hair bows, barrettes, ribbons, etc.. But I can locate what I need quickly. :)

My daughter has a long piece of colorful ribbon hung on the closet door that holds all her clips, barrettes, hairpins, etc. We simply clip the items to the ribbon. It makes it easy to see everything and very easy to put hair accessories away.

You can use a empty Quaker oats container cover it with pretty paper then put the headbands around it you can hang ribbons from the top for yourclips then fill the inside with all of the big fluffy ponytail holders

regular stretchy ponytail holders work best wrapped around a brush handle. I also agree with barrettes and such that a ribbon hanging in the bathroom is the best way to store them

As for the fluffy big ponytail covers, try a papertowel holder type system to slide them over (anything with a bottom and then a rod sticking straight up)

Great ideas. I'm glad I stumbled upon this thread. Thanks OP and all. :)

We use the strangest thing.... Ya know the package that little girl's panties come in??? (Like Disney 6 pack panties) Well, I noticed that I really liked the material (kinda heavy plastic, not cheap like a baggie) and it had a zipper. For the life of me I couldn't figure out why they would put a zipper on the package (like, you would take 1 out and leave the rest for another week / month???) Well, I have found them invaluable for keeping all my DD's "pippies" as we call them. We have a dedicated drawer in her room for hair accessories (one of the smaller center drawers in her long dresser, but a drawer full none the less. This way they are all organized and easy at hand (and easy to see).
I also like these "bags" to pack an extra change of clothing and can be used for wet / messing clothing storage on the way home! :thumbsup2

I found large "D" rings that are used to display fabric samples in furniture stores (like the kind used in binders, but on steriods!). They are great to put scrunchies on and can be rotated around to take off the one you need without taking off the rest.

The site is DesignsByJoyG dot com. So cute!

OP here! Thanks for all the GREAT suggestions. I knew you guys would have some wonderful ideas. I'll probably use a a few of them, as we have so many accessories!!!!:goodvibes

That is strange. :confused3 I get those plastic packages that snap shut for undies (Oshkosh) and are heavier plastic, but they are cheaply made to me. I toss them out. The zip locks have held up really well. Different strokes I guess.
