Hi, does anyone please have a suggestion on an economical floor mop and cleaner that's easy to clean with and also one in which I can cheaply and often change out the mop heads? Maybe mop heads that are easily changed out and can be washed and reused?

We have no carpet downstairs. It's a mix of linoleum in kitchen/dining and the living room is a pseudo hardwood floor. Don't know specifically what this flooring is, we don't own the house. Anyway, I've been cleaning with a Swiffer for the downstairs flooring, and I feel like it's too costly between buying the wet jet cleaning bottles that attaches with it and the disposable wet jet pad refills. I buy these at our commissary same time as doing grocery shopping.

Years ago I used to just use a straight mop and bucket with some Murphy's oil, and while that was super economical, also feel it's a bit dirty as the mop head isn't changed out as often as I'd like because then you have to buy one. Anyway, I would appreciate any suggestions, I'm trying to somehow tackle the cleaning supplies/toiletries cost piece of our grocery shopping bill. Thank you!

I use a swiffer wet jet with Bona reusable microfiber pads. I bought one bottle of the swiffer cleaner just to have a full-size bottle (my wet jet came with the sad mini bottle) and followed instructions found online to remove the cap and refill the bottle. I have not had any trouble with my modified bottle leaking. I prefer the powered spray nozzle of the wetjet over carrying a spray bottle of my own because my hand eventually gets tried squeezing a trigger across the whole house.

The Bona pads are large and seem to grab lots of dirt. They also move over the floor well without catching or dragging. When done I just toss them in the wash with the towels and then let them air dry. Right now I see a 5 pack of knockoff Bona pads on Amazon for $20--that might be worth a try too!

I use the Shark Steam mop, it only uses water and dries very quickly. Works Great. Plus it comes with the reusable pads that you can wash in you washing machine.

Me too! No chemicals, just hot water. I've read some people use distilled water, but I don't and have not had any issues and have had it for almost 4 years.

This is what I did. No leaking either. Although I think I just unscrewed the cap on it. I just buy some cheap floor cleaning at dollar tree and put in there. I do buy more pads though.

We recently got one of those bucket and mop where you push a lever with your foot and it wrings the mop quite easily....spin mop, I think. Just a couple drops of dish washing liquid and water and good to go.

By the way, our floors are all tile.

Steam mop all the way! You'll save a ton of money down the road and it's much better than using chemicals to clean your floor.

i like the Libman Wonder mop. I use it with a plan bucket of water and pinesol. I can pop the mop head off and throw it in the washer and dryer.

I have two options. I use a cheap regular cotton mop with Fabuloso so I can change them often and I also have a Haan steam mop that I use too. It is awesome with the steam and the washable pads.

I soak thin towels in citrus vinegar and stick them on my Swiffer. Works amazingly well. You can clean almost any surface with vinegar - except granite and marble!

Thanks! These are all great ideas. I'm trying something new next month. I never even thought of using a washable pad from another type of mop on my Swiffer. I do want to check out some steam mops, too, next time I get to Walmart! I like the idea of using some other floor cleaning liquid, or just steaming. That's why I was trying to figure out, so tired of these expensive bottles of attaching cleaner with the Swiffer, I go through one and sometimes two a month and feel like that's too much. Then throw in the box of refill pads one box a month or just there about, and it's too pricey.

Well, I'll check this out, that's interesting!

I use a Norwex mop. It was pricey to begin with (around $100), but worth it. The pads are machine washable and I just mop with water and maybe a little vinegar if the floor seems especially dirty.

This looks pretty cool. I'm getting something next month, whatever it is will be with a floor pad that's washable/reusable and a cheaper cleaner. I just was looking at an e-cloth deep clean mop on Amazon and when I ran into Walmart today for a few things took a quick look and they have two Sharks and a Bissell for steam mops. I feel like my current Swiffer WetJet is the least economical of all, so I will get something to replace it.

I also had a Shark Steam mop that I got before my Norwex (it recently broke) and I did still use it occasionally if I felt like the floors were super gross.

Sams has a shark steam mop on sale thru Sunday. I just grabbed it today because my DH was helping clean recently and put Bona floor polish in our busses steam mop. Well, I guess you know how that ended.:headache:

I also use the Haan steam mop with washable pads. I LOVE that thing!

I use the spin mop and bucket combo(it's blue) I love it- simple, works great and washable mop heads. For cleaner I use a method almon scented cleaner, or my homemade alcohol/water/vinegar cleaner mixed in the water. I love this mop!

I use the Libman spray mop. I fill the "tank" up usually with 1/3 vinegar and 2/3 hot water. It has a washable microfiber cloth.

I've been interested in the steam mop, but my living room/eating area/kitchen (open concept) and my basement all have laminate/pergo flooring and i'm worried it will warp it. I have tile in some rooms (bathrooms and foyers) and my master has hardwood though.
