Budget car rental problem--any ideas why this is so?

I'm pricing Avis and Budget for two 1 day rentals--one picking up in Sanford 7/2 and returning at Port Canaveral 7/3, the other picking up when we disembark at PC 7/10 and returning to Sanford late that afternoon.
There are 11 of us so I'm pricing out either three full-size cars or two minivans. At Budget I also have a price for a 12 passenger van.
However, while I am leaning towards Budget, when I did a search on the 7/10 rental it said only COMPACT cars were available. This would mean no choice but to rent 3 cars--and my 74 year old Dad with a bad back probably would NOT want a compact car. There were only two choices given and both were compacts!
I've EMailed them to check it out, but it this normal, or are all the bigger vehicles already gone for 7/10? I guess if we have to we can use Budget 7/2 and Avis 7/10, but I'd rather stick with one company.

Sanford is not a big airport as say MCO...so I am sure the fleet of cars at the rental agencies is not as large as other airports. I see no problem booking the two different companies. I have used both Avis and budget in Cocoa Beach and both were fine!!!

It is possible that their limited supply of larger vehicles is sold out already.

Robin,

You'll probably find that Budget doesn't keep a large amount of large vehicles at their PC site. As this is probably a transient site especially set up for the cruise ship industry at PC.

I would call instead of emailing to see if they could prearrange to have those vehicles there for your return.

Just a thought.

Good luck

We returned two weeks ago from the 2/7 Magic and used Budget from MCO and Avis from Port Canaveral. It really doesn't make any difference since you still need to take the rental car van to get to the site with the cars. One piece of advice, have one person drop all of you and the luggage off at the port and return the car. They need only have a photo ID to get back in the terminal. Someone from your party can check everyone in while the other is returning the car. This is assuming the person returning the car has a second photo ID. My DH returned the car using his drivers license to get back in while I checked him, my parents and my 3 DSs in using everyone's passports. I was given all 7 KTTW cards without the CM ever seeing anyone else in my party. Also when disembarking same thing, one person goes for the rental car and returns to pick everyone and the luggage off.

Have a great trip
