Have changed money habits & been trying hard to stick with budget. Take lunch to work, limited eating out, comparison shopped insurance & switched, watched what we spent, etc and then sometimes you just have to say the Heck to the budget & do what you have to do.

Mom was diagnosed with esophageal cancer last week (not a candidate for surgery) & outlook is not good. Ex-SIL was planning to drive over Columbus Day weekend so that the boys could see their grandmother. Would have 2 days of driving & 1 1/2 day of visit. DH & I talked & knew it was more important for Mom to see those grandkids. So we are helping to pay for 2 nephews under 18 to fly from Tucson to Texas to see their grandmother. Yes my DB can afford to fly his ex-wife & 2 sons First Class but he is to wrapped up with his new wife and her kids (bought a Harley, 2013 fully loaded Denali, redoing their house etc) while he is working overseas. He has to live with his decisions and DH & I have to live with ours.

Luckily we have been living on a budget & had ability to get them to see my Mom. Told ex-SIL (who is presently going to school & working) more important to spend time with family then on road.

DH & I would have probably not been in the position to do this if not for the Budget Board. We took what I read & applied it to our life and I say Thank You! :)

That was a very nice thing for you to do and I would have done the same. Those moments with the grandchildren will be extra special now for her. Although, I might be tempted to call my brother and give him a reminder about how important his family should be to him also.

We have had to live on a tight budget for more years then I can count, but I would have given my last penny for my family if necessary, unfortunately, I too have very selfish sisters who don't feel the same way. God smiles upon those whose hearts are in the right place, so God Bless You!

Oh, I forgot to say that my prayers and wishes go to you and your family for the difficult times ahead and I hope your Mom has many, many happy moments with all of you.

This isn't a budget buster, this was a need for the mental health of your family.

If it was my brother I would call and ***** him out big time.

Hope your mom passes easy.
