Budget Buster? - Nissan Quest Problem...

So, last night, I picked up the kids from my sister's house, put them in the car, drove home, and the sliding door on the minivan no longer slides open! I had to climb in, unbuckle DD & she had to climb out. My minivan has double automatic sliding doors (or DID)...

Anyone had this problem? What is it & how much does it cost to fix? I know different areas will have different prices...looking for a roundabout figure so I don't faint when I get the chance to bring it in!

What bothers me even more is that I can't even open it manually...it just doesn't open AT ALL!! I was pretty sure that if the electric part failed, that I could open it manually...

hmmm...my DH is a mechanic, but he's not home right now. he should be back within the next 2 hours, i'll ask him what he thinks about this. i find it odd your doors won't even open manually. i've never heard of such a thing.

Thanks! I thought maybe it was stuck...so I pushed & pushed, pulled, hit, etc. LOL I can hear something click when I push the button to open it...so I know there's something happening...just not opening the door. When I closed the door last night, it closed normally, all by itself. Nothing unusual...so I was really shocked when it wouldn't open when we got home.

I'd be really interested to see what your DH thinks!!

DH says either the motor that powers your rear doors or the door latch is likely seized up. It's also possible there's a shortage in the motor. A good body shop should be able to pop a door panel off and check it for you.
