Sorry, need to vent!!

I bought something from a guy on another forum. It was $50 and I gave him my FedEx account number to ship FedEx Ground.

It's big and heavy and should have cost around $50 to ship to me from California.

He waited 3 weeks to ship and then sent it 2 day Express!!!

That's costing me $200 for shipping!!!

Not even sure what I can do here. I paid the $50 through Paypal so I might try a claim there to get the $50 back but other than that I'm out $200 unless he's willing to compromise with me since it was his mistake.

And yes, I was clear when I said I wanted FedEx Ground.

MAD!! MAD!! MAD!!! :mad::sick::guilty:

Okay, vent over.

I don't blame you for being mad, I would be livid. I hope he is the one who has to eat the cost of the shipping.

Why in the world would you give anyone your FedEx account number? You really should have let him pay for the shipping, not allow him to effectively 'bill' you.

Good luck trying to get anything back...doubtful it will happen.

It's a very specialized message board and I didn't think it'd be an issue.

Definitely won't be giving that number out again.

And I agree, I doubt anything will come of this. I just needed to vent.

I did post on the other message board all the details so maybe that'll shame him into doing at least something.

I'm sorry this happened. next time I would contact fed ex and arrange for a pick up. It may cost a tad more but this way you control the type of service and your fed ex number.

Oh no!!!! I'm so sorry!! I do shipments every day with other people's shipper numbers but I don't make mistakes like that!! And if shipping was quoting that much I try to contact my clients to see if they want another method of shipping....holy cow!!!! I wonder if you could contact Fed Ex and dispute the charge?

Dispute what though? Fed Ex did what they were told to do. 2 day shipping.

They fulfilled their end fine. No reason they are going to eat the cost.

The OP messed up giving out her information. Not up to fed ex to fix it

Okay, first off it's "He", not she...:rotfl:

Second, I agree with you, it's not FedEx's fault.

I really don't expect to get anything back out of this other than "lesson learned".

I just needed to vent. :headache:

Sorry he!!

I was talking to the other poster that said you should get money back from Fed Ex.. I know you were just venting.

Sorry about how it all turned out!

Just wanted to let you know that person may have requested Fed Ex ground but Fed Ex shipped it 2 day instead. This has happened to us numerous times and it was Fed Ex's fault. We always received a refund after complaining. I wouldn't rule out the fault of Fed Ex.

Maybe not, I've done Fed Ex shipments where Fed Ex has messed up, and no where did I say the shipper was a "she" so I'm not sure what that has to do with my post......

You should not have to worry about the shipper not following your instructions, you give your number out in good faith, you should not be out that kind of money. You can file with Fed Ex, you just have to show proof that you requested ground shipping. I know this because it's been done to us, we've given our shipper numbers out, been over charged because our vendor did not follow our instruction, we disputed and got a partial refund. The vendor is then responsible for their portion of the overcharge.

And yes, this happens as well. :) I know that personally I have shipped product to a client, it's been delayed or "lost" or left on the FedEx (or UPS) truck, the client is then over billed for shipping when the shipper realizes they are missing their delivery window, the client contact us, we show proof of how we shipped and then FedEx (or UPS) is responsible for the over shipment charges.

OP do you have the ship date from the person who was sending you the product? It is quite possible that FedEx messed up and they should reimburse you. Just a thought.

can he use that number to ship other things?

Good point Blue Fairy, OP you may want to check with Fed Ex about getting the number changed because yes, he can use your shipper number to send things to other people.

That's a good point. I spend a LOT of time in my local UPS store ( make a lot of copies for my job.) I have heard people come in there more than once or twice with that same exact complaint.

I would be livid! Call FedEx and see what they say. They may be able to help. People use the receiver's FedEx account all the time.

UPDATE for everyone...

First off, I have taken the advice here and closed the account number.

Second, the seller did get in touch with me. He's refunding the cost of the item plus a little extra. That makes me feel a LOT better!

While I am still going to be out some money, I'm just going to chalk it up to lesson learned.

Just in case anyone is still interested....:lmao:

I got my refund today!!
:banana::banana::banana::dance3::dance3:
