We bought a new lawn mower, and after about a dozen uses, broke it. My DH was lifting the front end of the mower with it running, using the wind created by the mower blades to blow out the cut grass blades along the sidewalk. Well, he cruised a little too close to the city light pole and bent the metal block the blades affix to. :rolleyes1 :sad2: Does anyone know if that can be repaired, or do we need to buy a whole new mower?

Thanks so much in advance for any advice you can provide!!

Tough to say without seeing it first.

But here are a few questions?
1. Does it still run?
2. How much did it cost new?

If the motor still runs then you should be able to get a new blade mount and new blade. This bolts to the engine shaft. Take it to a lawnmower repair shop. I would guess $50+.

If the motor doesn't run then either (A) the engine crank shaft is bent or (B) the flywheel key is sheared and will need to be replaced.

If A, then the motor is junk.
If B then the motor will have to be partially taken apart and the flywheel key replaced. The cost here is the labor. The part is a $1 item. (on top of replacing the blade mount and blade).

Aw, man, you're the best. :worship: I don't know specifics about whether the engine is still functioning. All I know is when it happened my DH's mouth was sure spinning out as many four letters words as I would ever care to hear. ;)

Thanks for the information. I will further diagnose the problem and then take the steps you suggest. I really, truly appreciate it!!
