So DGS was watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse movies on the laptop on Wednesday night just like he does every night. He got his bottle of water with the sippy-type lid and was drinking it. I didn't think anything of it and went to the kitchen to get me a drink too. When I got back, the laptop had stripes going across the screen and there was water all in the keys! About a minute later, it went to the black screen. Is it gone forever? Can I let it dry out and then turn it on and it work? Is there anything at all that can be done to help it?
I mean, really?? How does this happen? We ended up taking it and getting a quote to fix it ($800) and then called our insurance company. Luckily we have a computer rider on our homeowner's insurance and they covered it completely and sent me a check for $700 (minus deductible). We bought a new laptop but just recently (couple of months later) DH turned on the laptop and it works just the same as it did before all the madness. So....it may not all be a loss. It might be worth it to take it in to a repair center. If nothing else, they can retrieve your data for you!
