Budget Buster- Broken Iphone

I dropped my iphone and cracked the screen. Does anyone know if there is anyway to fix this? I saw on the apple site where I can send it to apple for a mere $249. That is really not in my budget. I was hoping one of my dis friends could tell me another alternative.

Check locally to see if anyone has set up shop. We have a local place that fixed mine for $100. Next, get one of the Otter Boxes for it. It has saved me from breaking mine again as it can withstand the fall.

Also, after you get it fixed, check about insurance on it. Some of the insurance carriers will cover it. State Farm and Farmers do. State Farm is $30/yr I believe.

Check your purchase papers to see if it's under warranty or if you purchased a replacement policy.

If you bought it with a credit card, the issuer may have a breakage/loss amount - contact the issuer.

I cracked mine Back in October I was so mad with myself. When I caled apple tho they sd it wld b 199? Mine still works and I'm on it now as a matter if fact. The worst part is on the right hand side of the home button and then just cracks from it. I have found some sellers on eBay who fix but I am a bit hesitant. So for now I'm just makng fo with mn as is. Is yours still usable?

Did you buy the Apple plan when you bought your phone? I am not sure what the cost would be with the plan.

From experience with an iTouch, the cat knocked it off the shelf and it fell only inches but cracked the screen on my son's iTouch. Thankfully everything else works great and the crack is not really in the "viewing" area.

After a lot of research I found out that Apple, Best Buy replacement policies, etc that no one covers a cracked screen. I was so bummed. I mean the cracking of the screen is pretty much the only reason to get a replacement plan.....anything else breaking would be warranty related.

There are a few websites that discuss replacing the screen and some sites offering to do the procedure, however all that I have researched indicated that these steps only be taken as a last step....meaning if you are willing to sacrafice the whole unit in case it doesn't work.

I have "heard" of stories of people going into the Apple store and getting a sympathetic worker trade out the iPhone, usually with a refurbished one.

I am sorry that this happened because I know who frustrating it is when you have something expense and cool, yet it gets messed up.

does the phone still work? if so, no need to get it fixed. My dog knocked my iPhone off the table a few weeks or so ago and cracked the screen. Phone still works, though, so I'm just leaving it as is. DH's friend at work has a REALLY badly cracked screen and has one of those screen protectors on it pretty much holding it together, and his phone still works too! i have another friend who also has a cracked screen on his iPhone but still works!

My phone still works fine. It is just a little hard to read where the "spiderweb" is. Lucky for me I have had the phone for over a year so it isn't like I just bought it. I am looking around my area for individuals who have experience fixing them. So far I haven't found anyone. I will continue to use it and hopefully find a way to fix it without shelling out $250.
