Seems there are alot of unhappy disers this morning regarding the Disney Visa offer. I read this morning in my SaveDisney newsletter an article that stated that Disney and Bank One had devised a plan to bring in new vacationers. This would be it. Those of us who already have the card are most likely already planning a vacation WITHOUT the discount. This offer is for those who have not planned a vacation. Disney shared that information with Bank One and those are the people who received the offer in the mail. Of course this is just speculation on my part after reading the article.

Oh well, I will still enjoy my November vacation at WDW, I will just be paying more for it!!

Wishing everyone a "magical" day!

I am getting pretty ticked with Disney Visa!

They need to bring back a big discount membership card again, not a cc!

herc.

Hmmm...
I wonder how they would feel if I just dumped my plans to stay onsite and closed my Bank1 Disney VISA account?

If what Tinkerbelle739 suggests is true , then that's a pretty stupid marketing strategy on both sides. I just can see all the Bank1/Disney suits in a meeting now, "Let's come up with a deal to attract new visitors that will annoy and alienate our current customer base."

Yeah. I'm not above cancelling my plans and going elsewhere. When they did away with EE, I stayed offsite for the first time. And when a woman interviewed my DH in EPCOT that year, he made sure that she knew the reason why we chose to stay offsite was the lack of EE.

I may just decide that a 2-bedroom condo offsite suits me better that the BC concierge. And I can pay for it using my Chase MasterCard. Just remember Disney...if I ain't staying onsite, I ain't spending my $$$ onsite either...that's meals, souvenirs, non-park activities. And what $$$ I do spend at WDW will be with the Disney Dollars I already have in my pocket and the Disney Dream Dollars that are courtesy of my soon-to-be-cancelled Bank1 Disney VISA.

I don't mean to sound insensitive, but I don't really care. I'm planning my vacation Disney Bank One Visa or not. I cannot have any credit cards anyway as I have my debt turned over to a debt consolidator. If I tried to get a credit card right now, I would just get a denied. Doesn't bother me any, as I really don't want one. I know emergencies pop up and credit cards can help bail you out, but my credit card bailed me out while I worked in Disney as I wasn't making enough to feed myself after rent was taken out of my check and 3 years later, I'm still paying for that! :(

I wouldn't let this bother you guys so much. I know it's frustrating for those of you who have cards and you're not receiving any rewards from it. So do what you say you're going to do, cancel it. Who knows, maybe Bank One will get a clue when they lose so many guests at one time.

Best to all of you with getting the 7 for 4!!

Denise

I hate the Disney Visa--bank one, etc.... Bring back the Disney Club!

If it wasn't Bank One, it would be AA or something else. It's called marketing and they target people.

As for Roy...... I actually think things will be worse if he gets his way.... His entire SAVE DISNEY campaign consists of fire one person and return to the way Walt did it. There was in interesting article in todays NY Times. I am not sure the way Walt did it would work today. (Not to mention, that Disney was run just that way until Eisner came in and was THIS close to being bought by investment bankers and sold in parts.....)

Kudos to those that see this as a marketing tool - nothing more, nothing less. While I understand that everyone is looking for a good deal on a WDW vacation, I'm continuously amused by how upset people get at the idea that someone else might get something that they themselves can't have.

I don't have the Disney Visa, so it doesn't matter to me one way or the other, but I've seen this same attitude when it comes to AP discounts, packages, etc. IMO, people are way too concerned with what others are getting, sometimes to the point of actually getting upset and letting it affect their vacations negatively.

I just assume I'll pay rack rates, (though I've never had to, yet), and if a discount comes out, great. If not, oh well.

AirForceRocks, what I and so many others are upset about is that one of the incentives for the Disney Visa was supposed to be special deals like the FTP. So far they have not come through with a deal that could be used by everyone who has the Disney Visa - I believe the closest was the deal that included free park passes for kids ages 3-9 which was of no use to those of us without kids in that age range. Now we hear about yet another great deal but, once again, it isn't for everybody. Bottom line - they haven't given us what they promised. And I know that some people may think that we're not really out anything - that it isn't as if we paid for something we didn't get. But I disagree. My DH and I are very selective about applying for credit of any kind because we've learned that all those credit applications show up on your credit report whether you get the card or not. We've also been told that the credit you have available to you will show up and can have a negative affect on your credit rating. (Not sure about that last one but, as I mentioned on another thread, perhaps someone in banking can tell us for sure.) Anyway, last year when we applied for the Disney Visa we were already looking for a new card that would give us a better deal than our old cc which did not offer any rewards or incentives. We debated over several options but decided on the Disney Visa because we like to go to WDW every year and thought that the little bit we would earn in rewards along with hotel and/or package discounts would make it a good deal for us. Since we don't feel comfortable with jumping from one credit card to another or with carrying several different cards, we are pretty much stuck with this one for awhile but we are very disappointed that it isn't giving us the discounts and deals we were led to believe it would. I have no problem with others getting the deal also and I'm hoping that the FTP will eventually be offered to everyone as it was last year. But it would have been nice if they had started with those of us who already have the Visa instead of leaving us hanging.:(

Yes, any open credit on cards, even if you don't use them is taken in consideration for you applying for credit. It usually comes into play if you are buying a house. If you have 3 credit cards, and they all have a limit of 5,000, and if you owe nothing on them and pay them off, they still consider that you can have 15,000 of debt outstanding. Every time my credit card companies think they are doing me a favor by raising my limit for being such a good customer, I call them and say no thanks. Leave me limit as it was. If I need more, I will call and ask to have it raised.

I went into financial ruins almost 5 years ago. We pulled ourselves out and are doing better than ever. One big point we don't have ANY credit cards. I don't want any. As a disney fan who goes there twice a year I for one am a little ticked that the last 2 great offers are dependant on getting a Disney visa. Kind of discriminatory. What about people who just can't get the card????

JoiseyMom, that's just what we were told. Even if those cards have a zero balance the bank looks at them as if they are maxed. We feel that if the bank looks at it that way then we should too. So we only carry a couple of cards, one of which has a very low limit, and we don't go around applying for lots of different cards and jumping from one to another. We're afraid that might come back to haunt us later. Basically, we allotted ourselves one opportunity to get a cc with rewards and it's beginning to look like we wasted it by getting the Disney Visa instead of another card with a more reliable program.

Hey kilee, I've been in your shoes and I do sympathize. My DH and I learned the hard way about all this stuff with credit cards. As a matter of fact, I had my doubts that we would get approved for the card when we applied last year. It takes a long time for that feeling to go away. Congrats on pulling yourselves out of the pit - I know firsthand how hard it is. As for missing out on the deals because you can't get the card - btdt too and I know how frustrating it is. I just kept reminding myself that we got ourselves into that predicament and we had to deal with the consequences. (Not much fun, tho.) But don't give up on this deal being offered to everyone - I haven't. If memory serves, they did eventually open the deal to everyone last year, Visa or no.

HI ALL!
Remember the stockholder benefit before Eisner for being a STOCKHOLDER of Disney Co.,discounts up to 50% at the resorts were the norm depending on the season.
MAGIC KINGDOM CLUB :30% benefit for being a shareholder. or pay membership.
DISNEY CLUB: less benefits than MKC down to 10%.
DISNEY VISA: select benefits less than MKC and DC.
IMHO the DISNEY CO.(EISNER WORLD ) has no sense of loyalty
to long term guests!
Based on the money flow from my family that has gone to Disney Co. over the years we sometimes wonder if the original Walt Disney Magic has mutated into Eisner World Cancer which deterates our wealth with less satifaction for being loyal to a brand name.

I think all of these concerns over the Disney Visa card were covered back before they initially came out.. People were warned that in the long run they probably wouldn't be a "good" deal and they would get jerked around one way or another, but people didn't want to believe it..

If you have one and you're unhappy, just cancel it..

crusoe2, you are also right about "shopping" for credit. We call this the "lendingtree.com" effect. Every time you apply for credit, it shows up as a "borrower-initiated inquiry" on your credit report. Multiple inquiries can bring your FICO score down by as much as 10%.

Kudos to those that see this as a marketing tool - nothing more, nothing less. While I understand that everyone is looking for a good deal on a WDW vacation, I'm continuously amused by how upset people get at the idea that someone else might get something that they themselves can't have.

I agree with you 100%!!!!

It's like complaining that you can't get a code that is only good for a certain state. (there are never codes for NY)

Or complaining that you didn't get the post card with a special rate. (I have never gotten one, have you?)

I am a Disney Visa member. I'm not going to cancel my card if I can't get this promotion. I have earned $133 towards my trip using my card for every day purchases. I have seen many special promotions for the Dsiney Visa; from TDS merchandise to vacation specials. When I signed up for the card, I don't remember anyone telling me that I would get a great deal at WDW every time I wanted to go!
